Spend some time working at a food bank, a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, women's shelter, habitat for humanity... its not laziness or such. Rather people that didn't have as many opportunities as others, lack of educational opportunities and other less than stellar chances in life. Assistance in the form of snap, food banks and other support help them keep their family together. Many work a couple of jobs. Child care would help. Medical insurance would help but congress and the administration wants additional burdens on many.

No system is perfect and no one wants to live on the streets. A by product is increased theft at grocery stores, break ins and increased crime. Better add money for increased policing. Not national guard, real police.

Fund it through taxing PAC money. Congress already gets paid with benefits thats more than what many Americans have.

Keep on defending services for the poor. They'll be in your neighborhood looking for food some day.
