Sci-fi/Fantasy Alternate Sites?

I've been coming to Literotica for a long time, and my interest is reading stories in the Exhibitionism/Voyeurism genre. I've recently started writing my own erotica.

However, what I write is firmly in the sci-fi/fantasy genre and always will be. I plan to keep on posting to Literotica, but Sci-fi/Fantasy seems to be one of the less read categories here.

Are there other sites to post stories that are a little more focused on erotic sci-fi/fantasy fiction?

Thanks!

Blake

If it's sci-fi or fantasy, but the kink is exhibitionism or voyeurism, just stick it in E&V. That's what I did with my tentacle demon story.

tentacle demon you say...
Full Moon on Old Jack's Hill

It also includes one of my favourite mood-setting passages from any of my stories:

I paused, panting a little. It had been a long climb, and I'd moved faster than I'd expected. Heaving in deep breaths, I glanced round and took in the view.

Below me the valley was laid out. The river was a black snake winding its way along, crossed here and there by charcoal roads. The fields were a patchwork of different shades of grey, stitched together by walls and hedges. Light shone in the windows of two of the farmhouses.

The village was a brighter cluster of lights. I could make out the shops, the pub, the old stone church. A car's headlights lit up the streets for a few seconds, then turned into a driveway and switched off.

It was a scene from a silent black and white movie.

As I stood and looked, the church bells rang out, tolling midnight across the valley. Dong-dong-dong... It was the perfect counterpoint.

I waited for the final toll to fade away and return the night to silence before I completed the last yards to the top. Except it didn't fade away. It lingered on, hanging on the still air like magic.

Hey Blake, I looked around for Sci-fi sites as well and the only other one I found that was Sci-fi focused was the Baen Books website, but the # of readers is pitiful. I tried a couple of stories there but it just wasn't worth the trouble. I tried Wattpad as well and had a better response there - but they removed my best-viewed erotic sci-fi story so I gave up on them.

SOL maybe, but it's like Lit, it's not sci-fi focused. Honestly, Lit is your best bet, but my best view SciFi stories have been posted in other categories, like First Time.

"I Married a Heptapod" was sci-fi/tenatacle/irst time, I submitted it under first time and it was in the Top 20 First Time Hall of Fame for quite a while. So my suggestion would be, don't get hung up on submitting it under scifi, and also post it on SOL as well, and just compare the results.

I'm interested in places where I could post straight sci fi that might not be sexual. I would still post it here as well, bit SF*F is very sleepy and non-erotic is if anything, worse. I have a few stories in my head I might want to write, probably sometime next year (I have enough irons in the fire as it is right now).

Royal Road might be where you want to put it then. As they have a no erotica rule. It can have erotic content supposedly but it can't be the main focus.

You might be able to get better readership for your SF/F stories by putting them into contests and author-sponsored events.

I have entered these (not with any sci-fi yet, because the theme hasn't matched). In the five or six months I have been aware of them, I have entered three events and one contest, or roughly half of the available ones. But the only story that got a notable bounce from the category expectations was my Nude Day story and that only happened after I won a prize. The category levels seem to dominate any impact of contests or events, in my limited experience.

You can always try AO3. I have a few exclusive stories there. One is Star Wars fanfic.

It's fanfic only, though, right? I might write some just for the experience.

There’s a few original stories too.

Although the content policy says 'Original works are allowed, unless the work would be in violation of some other part of the Terms of Service.' it's handy to have some tenuous link to an already published milieu as a justification for it being a Transformative Work.

On the other hand, my Summer Lovin' story was in one of Lit's sleepiest categories (Toys & Masturbation), but it had enough views to make Actingup's list of the most-viewed stories in the contest, comparable to entries in LW and T/I.

There's something wrong with SF&F here. Science Fiction is one of the most popular genres in mainstream fiction, but some of the stories on the hub now might be getting their views from web workers instead of actual readers.

Why doesn't erotic Sci Fi draw more Lit readers? Etaski used to be a popular writer there (she left to publish mainstream). I just checked her catalog, and her stories have 10s of thousands of views--huge compared to what's there now. The category even seems to flip a normal trend. Interest in later chapters usually drops off, but later chapters in SF&F draw more than the stand alones.

I know authors in the category love world-building, and from the high scores I'd guess that the few readers left there love world-building, too. But did they drive away the erotica readers?

It makes it feel like publishing SF&F on Lit is a special challenge. Maybe it's time to resuscitate SF&F and make it worthwhile.

I enjoy reading stories from this category. The only thing I can think of is that most are long running series and, according to the stats that other authors here occasionally publish, a lot of people don't like to read series beyond the first few initial chapters. Perhaps its the (often) long wait in between chapters?

One problem I do have with SciFi series is that sometimes authors, who have created a fantastical world, sometimes continue to make it more fantastical with each successive chapter. At some point, it simply becomes too much (for me) to willingly suspend my disbelief. I recently stopped reading one after making it through over 20 chapters until it 'jumped the shark'.

The one I'm currently reading has what looks to be over 80 chapters, and is still growing.

Blushes, runs and hides.

I will get one of my part-finished stories up one day; honest. Until then you'll have to rummage through the rôle plays to find me.

Has some SciFi and some Mind Control as well.

Has stories in many categories, but a few in SciFi that I've read.

Is probably my primary source of SciFi. Some of his stories are placed in Group Sex, but could be in SciFi as well.

@NotWise I haven't read any of his stories (yet), but this guy is an active SciFi writer.

Yeah, it's pretty much a wash when it comes to Sci-Fi & Fantasy between Lit and SOL. There's a much bigger percentage of the audience on SOL who reads the genre, but there's a much smaller pool of readers overall. In the end, it's usually a tie — though every once in a while, something of mine outperforms Lit on SOL in the genre. Lowborn is the prime example of that. Maxes out here with 694 votes on the final chapter, where it got 1k on SOL.
