This comes under the ‘mental revenge is sweet/therapeutic/maybe even universal’ category. In this case, even with a happy ending.

Mark Twain, when shopping his first literary effort ‘Legendary Jumping Frog’ met with the usual issues of a first author trying to get published – rejections. Late in life he ran across the first publishing house editor who had rejected his first piece. To wit:

The funny thing is, it doesn't bother me at all. I've made way worse mistakes and left them on here. (And then I sometimes go back a month later and fix them...)
