He was all of that and more. I personally didn't like his methodology, nor do I believe in his vision, but he was inspirational for a lot of people who were looking for something to make their own lives meaningful.

The problem is that people don't realize that turning toward something also means turning away from everything else. And when an ideology cannot accept that it isn't universally accepted, it can get violent to those who look elsewhere for answers to their life's questions.

This was the same flaw in MLK's attempts to bring about change. And he paid the same price for it. Violent ideologies are not going to peacefully accept rejection by society's masses.
