How well known was Charles Kirk?

A bit of an oversimplification, but essentially true.

There have been three people in the last century who successfully persuaded the wealthy elite to fund their demagoguery and expand their toxic fascist dreams nationwide:
  • Adolf Hitler - Gustav Krupp
  • Charlie Kirk - Foster Friess
  • JD Vance - Peter Thiel
Non sequitur

I'm really surprised at how many Americans didn't know of him. His name is frequently mentioned in connection to maga and trump on various mainstream news media but it is true that youtube podcasts and social media covered him more, from varying points of view.

having said that, he wasn't famous (or infamous) enough to warrant the 'every flag flown at half-mast' order or the magnitude of funeral honours he's likely to be given now in a major attempt to distract from the epstein files.

glamgorilla referred to Charlie Kirk as “a saint” and Rightard declared that Charlie Kirk WAS a guaranteed future President…

😑

The right is pretending Charlie Kirk WAS something other that a crass, cruel, unprincipled political operative. Charlie Kirk WAS a young Roger Stone, if anything.

😑

Side note:

Never has karma meted out her final judgment / justice more properly or pointedly.

We. Told. Them. So.

Haha!
Looks like someone private messaged yet another a female member here and got turned down.
So sad. Boo-hoo.

He is the newest RIGHT WING MARTYR.

"Millions" will stand up like him to carry his message forward said our lovely right wing radio.
We have NO LEFT wing radio anymore and that's in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The best thing is their are TWO right wings now at odds with one another, but over this, it's all about hating the left for our language. People don't kill people. Guns don't kill people. WORDS kill people.
Enter the THOUGHT POLICE!

He also had all the flags for federal buildings in AmeriKKKa lowered to half mast and he's getting the nation's highest civilian medal! (right?)

Some flags may also be at half mast for 9/11.

An indicator of how little you know of him. He truly was a transformative figure in American politics and among college-aged young men and women, whose ideas and energy reshaped campus political discourse and encouraged countless young people to take an active role in public life.

Why all this fuss? Charlie Kirk himself said:

"We must also be real. We must be honest with the population. Having an armed citizenry comes with a price, and that is part of liberty... We need to be very clear that you're not going to get gun deaths to zero. It will not happen. But I think it's worth it. I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment."

You should all just thank good ol' Charlie for paying the "price" and get on with your lives.

Yes, because the presence of dangerous individuals in society makes it necessary for citizens to be able to defend themselves, ensuring the preservation of liberty and the greater good, as the Founders understood.

An insignificant conservative Christian was singled out and murdered and the left believes it's justified. Democrats have become morally bankrupt. :)
uhhh say who? I have not seen one person purportedly from the left saying it was justified. Lie much?

Are you suggesting there is a significantly higher percentage of "dangerous individuals" in America than everywhere else? Because hardly any countries have the gun control.approach that the U.S. has.

It is very sad to see such a violence happening in the broad daylight.
I hear about this guy a while back and saw some videos about him debating as usual in his chair with different college students.
A silver-tongued man, he has had many followers in China, too, for his blabla skills. We can often find such people in Hyde Park or English Corner, who try to be the center of the event and become the attack target of the crowd, especially when his wife is pretty and he has two or three kids, making the jealousy strongly felt.
In China's north, the wedding ceremony intended to be a wild party will turn out to be a farce, with the best men and the maid of bride engaged in making fool of or beating the groom to let out their personal complicated feelings. In the extreme case, the groom is disabled for the rest of his life or gets killed right there. All violence is done in the disguise of having fun.
Perhaps it is the same with this great speaker Mr. Charlie Kirk.

Coming from the UK I’ve seen comparisons with Nigel Farage , incidentally if you ask a well known AI platform it also gives similarities with Farage.

Think if the same thing happened to Farage in the UK , (highly unlikely with the far stricter gun laws this side of the pond) there was be an obvious degree of shock but rather like in the case of Mr Kirk , who id admit I’d never heard of pre last night , a little celebration too.
Farage is, albeit a very weak one, a politician and leader of a party (wankers though they are). This guy was a political commentator wasn't he? Almost like a radio chat show host? I really don't know, I'd never heard his name before.

One of America's greatest figures has left us. He was cruelly torn from our midst far too soon. Like no other, he embodied everything that defines Trump's America.
To honour this loss, the flags are flying at half-mast, but it will not stop there. I am sure that the first icon painters are already busy capturing his essence and depicting him arm in arm with Jesus, above them a gently smiling Donald Trump, holding his hand over them in blessing and protection.

Yes, I admit that one might think I am making fun of the gentleman. I expressly reject that.
De mortuis nihil nisi bonum dicendum est.
I heard little about him until his death, and none of it impressed me. If I am making fun of anything, it is the constant superlatives. Dear Americans, can't you ever judge something normally? Don't you know what mediocrity is? There is absolutely no reason to either condemn or exaggerate everything. If I had to point out your greatest weakness, it would be in the final selection. To everyone else, except you of course, this sounds completely ridiculous.

I genuinely knew nothing about him. Now I guess I'll never get a clear picture due to the divisive nature of American politics, I'll either hear the glowing superlatives that you referred to, or vitriol, there will be no middle ground where the truth probably lies.
