Earlier today I had what I intended to be ‘people’ turned into ‘protease.’

Does this happen to you too?

Oh also this chromebook (which is also refurbished) tries to turn the word feathers into turtle.

That was my reaction too. It's been doing it for a year now so I'm kinda used to it at this point.

My phone is adamant on autocorrecting "Colombia" into the Spanish word for cunt.

It seems like the curse of AI has crept into autocorrect. In ye olde days, perhaps a year ago, it would fix common typos and leave a few marked as errors (but keeping what you typed).

Today, it often changes the entire word to something else. When typing fast, if I don’t catch it, I will go back to proofread a few days later and see this strange word in the middle of my paragraph. More than once I lost the original thought and original word. Had my typo remained, I may have been able to fix a letter to getcthatcorigibak word. (See)

When I first got a smartphone it took a couple years before the autocarrot stopped 'correcting' fucking to ducking.

With subsequent phones I have to be careful as it'll correct ducking to fucking, even when that's what I meant to say.

About 18 months ago Google did some 'upgrade' and now won't correct any words in quote marks or after a hyphen, which is intensely annoying but there doesn't seem to be alternative keyboard software out there.

Way back in the days of typewriters, I knew my SO was in some trouble finishing an important paper for their last semester of undergraduate. This was a stretch where I had moved to another city for a job. As a surprise, I took some days off work and showed up in the middle of the night to help. Me SO would type the draft on one typewriter, mark it up for edits, then I would type the final draft. Unfortunately, there was a nice four syllable word that was the core concept in the paper. And my brain or fingers insisted on constantly adding an extra letter near the end of the word.

Discovered less than an hour before the absolute deadline. Not a chance to retype 40 pages. Much whiteout and careful overwriting with a black pen in a steady hand (not mine). I still get grief about that one, forty some years later.

I saw a post in a thread the other day. I think it was what are you thinking, don't remember. I posted a supportive comment and hit send without checking it. I immediately posted another apologizing saying I wish I could blame drugs or alcohol but couldn't. It was completely mangled gibberish. It's like WTF sometimes. I've also gone back to edit stories 2 weeks later and had to ask myself, what the fuck was I trying to say?!

Well, the squirting fetish is less likely to get you arrested, but you shouldn't do either while driving.

Well you're no fun. Actually I can't speak to squirting while driving, or drugs either for the record, but the squirting definitely isn't possible. Someone else would have to chime in on that.
