25 July is almost upon us and there is no news about how this site will enforce the new UK legislation regarding age verification for adult sites and how it will affect access to the website and forum for UK users. On that basis, I can only assume that the worst and that they will probably block UK IPs. I don't want to leave, but I am not going down the VPN route, so, after eighteen years this may well be the end of my time here. I'm very sad about it and I hope that I am wrong and that nothing happens, however, I am not optimistic.

I do not wish to be locked out without leaving some kind of message. This thread seems to be the best place to post it. Back when I first joined, older versions of it used to spin like a fruit machine, making it so challenging to keep up with all the chatter. We had such fun. Many a night of nonsensical, fun, and flirtatious conversations can all be traced back to this thread and its predecessors. I met so many wonderful people, some great friends too, and it really helped me to come out of my shell. Most have already long since moved on for other reasons, but for any of you who are still here and may read this, thank you . I have enjoyed our interactions over a great many years and I wish you all the best. There are a few particular people who I particularly thank from the bottom of my heart too. You know who you are. Take good care fo yourselves.

As for the wider community, I have learnt so much, enjoyed so many frivolous, funny, and, yes, fiery (in the sexual sense of the word) exchanges. I have loved it and I wish that these changes were not being implemented in this way and that I could simply stay. After eighteen years of being here though, it looks as though it is over. If it is my last night, it is going to hurt, a lot. If it is not my last night, I will feel very foolish, but better to be a fool and to say goodbye to a people and a place than means something than to remain silent and not have the chance, so I will risk it.

I will put a pound coin in the thread for old times sake and wish everyone reading this all the very best. I will end with one my favourite songs, which somehow feels appropriate:
