Day 24: A song from the 80s (deities)
We can probably debate whether angels qualify as deities, but for our purposes here I'm gonna go ahead and claim they are.
1983 - "She's an Angel" - They Might Be Giants
(That's why I added higher power in the prompt)

I was actually curious to see how people would interpret this. I expected the Jesus folk and upper case G God, but I'm more interested in the other answers.

I love this answer

I'm trying to shy away from the explicitly Jesus-centric stuff. Partly because it feels like low-hanging fruit. And partly because so much of that music is just bad.

My mind always goes to the commercial when I hear this song 😂

Same! I learned to shave with that razor 😂
Satan! Satan! Satan!
Not sure why but I'm imagining a kid having a temper tantrum and banging their little fists against the table: "Satan! Satan! Satan!" But I don't think His Evilness™️ would interfere with parents who force their kids to eat green beans.

Day 25: 90s

This is one of my favourite post-Beatles Paul songs and I'm always kinda shocked it was released in 1997. The album just has a more classic Paul feel and the 80s saw Paul lean into, well the 80s, and that brought some interesting sounds. At some point the person Paul sings about is praying to some higher power too, so yay, but my favourite passage is...

I don't care what you wanna be, I go back so far, I'm in front of me; it doesn't matter what they say, they're giving the game away...

Something about the visual of traveling so far in reverse that you are now standing right in front of yourself, seeing your post and future, it's so good. It's one of Paul's favourite lines he's written and said "it's one of those lines that you don't know what it means, but you know exactly what it means."

The World Tonight - Paul McCartney

Day 25: A song from the 90s (deity bonus)

I’m not sure if 1990 is the last year of the 80s or the first year of the 90s. But man, this song sums up the early 90s for me. Back when the Flaming Lips were much more sonic. In A Priest Driven Ambulance is easily my favorite album of theirs.

Flaming Lips - God Walks Among Us Now (Jesus Song Number 6)

+1 for today (god, Jesus, entropy, spirituality, meaning), +4 for the week
