When the back door of my grandfather's hearse popped open before the procession got to the cemetery, my dad joked, "He's trying to make a run for it!"

My grandmother on my dad's side wanted her ashes to be poured out into the water by Rocky Point.

When my uncle began to do it a breeze picked up and some of the ashes blew back on him and he's yelling "Ma, get off me!" While my dad and two aunts couldn't stop laughing and my cousins and I were doing our best not to.

Solemn moments are not part of my family.
