Wat’s Carbon Water-N-Stuff Thread - Concepts In Iron And Wood!!!

The car is (or was) on exhibit at the Smithsonian. I've seen it. It smells like death.

I remember leafing through Hemming's Motor News and seeing an ad for that car (allegedly) for sale for the princely sum at the time of $250,000.00. I have since heard that there are several of those cars. Of course, there is only one Real One.

I'd like to trust that the Smithsonian had the real deal.

Wat hasn't been there in a coon's age . . . .

Being in the military brings special experiences to your life. I've been in several places where death came calling unexpectedly. The smell is unmistakable once you realize what it is and anywhere enclosed retains it seemingly forever. Machines are the worst for this because of upholstery as well as nooks/crannies.

The car in the Smithsonian has/had the same smell. I could smell it from 5 feet away.

I get it.

And there is nothing like smell to trigger a very strong memory.

"He insulted me, he hurt me, he defeated me, he robbed me." Those who think such things will not be free from hate.

~ Buddha

I saw grief drinking a cup of sorrow and called out, 'It tastes sweet, does it not?' 'You've caught me,' grief answered, 'and you've ruined my business. How can I sell sorrow, when you know it's a blessing?

~ Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi

The best cure for worry, depression, melancholy, brooding, is to go deliberately forth and try to lift with one's sympathy the gloom of somebody else.

~ Arnold Bennett

Guilt is anger directed at ourselves-at what we did or did not do. Resentment is anger directed at others-at what they did or did not do.

~ Peter McWilliams

Happiness is not a reward - it is a consequence. Suffering is not a punishment - it is a result.

~ Robert Green Ingersoll

Dam. The fishnets grabbed all my attention for a couple of minutes. Then I saw that trigger finger.

WE gun owners need to think about making it our mission to educate models, agents, and photographers about the 4 rules by being vocal and not buying what they're selling until they get their acts together.

I'm curious, you've said on a few occasions now the recoil from firing a gun would now do permanent damage to your rapidly deteriorating spine.

Why on earth then, do you feel the compulsion to own a firearm you can never use?

As usual, in your zeal to make a public fool out of yourself, you've fucked up and left out half of the facts.

One wonders if you do this on purpose or if you're too stupid to realize you're doing it.

My vote is; yes you are.

At least.

Good idea on the trigger discipline. Let us make it a mission to bombard those photographs and advertisers and web hosts and all that other stuff. Boycotting their products should get their attention.

Poor trigger discipline indeed.

She must be punished….

Maybe she just busted some caps down range and the photog got the snap just as she was lowering? 🤷🏻‍♂️

As in the ocean's midmost depth no wave is born, but all is still, so let the practitioner be still, be motionless, and nowhere should one swell.

~ Sutta-nipata, translated by Dines Anderson and Helmer Smith

The sublime peace of the Tao [is] something we can all experience by . . . coming into accord with how things actually are—what Tibetan Buddhists call the natural state. Rather than trying to build skyscrapers to reach heaven and bridges to cross the raging river of samsara to reach the so-called other shore of nirvana, we could realize that it all flows right through us right now and there’s nowhere to go, nothing to get, and all is perfect as it is. This deep inner knowing has a lot to do with trust and letting be; there is nirvanic peace in things just as they are.

Each man’s life represents a road toward himself.

~ Hermann Hesse
