The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Woke to strong storms @ an hour ago. They've passed through. On their way East toward Lake Michigan now.

Catch up needs to wait. I need more 😴
Catch Yaz later as @Wonderer67 would say
That front is heading our way now. Taking a quick break, and listening to the thunder rolling in.

It making for some neat looking clouds.

Afternoon everyone. I was able to go back and get a bit more sleep. What's everyone else up to today?
My forecast is for a wet weekend, but I don't see mention of severe storms. Just a lot of rain - sometimes heavy.
No advance mention of severe storms that I could find. But the thunder and lightning woke me and I checked the phone to find all sorts of warnings and watches for severe weather. The storm passed in @ 1hr. I was spared any damage and power outages that hit all around me.
Put a bullseye on it for me! 🤣🤣
Oh, Lili... don't encourage him. 😂
You said "wet weekend."
Mine is a week away. 🤣
You got it!!!
ahem 🤨
Almost everyone has some accommodation loss after cataracts surgery. There are special lenses that can be implanted to help with this. Unfortunately, I was not a candidate for them. My ophthalmologist already had to order special lenses due to my prescription need.
That's my fear. I'm not a lasik candidate. Insurance won't help w/ the cataract surgery w/o cloudy lenses. I have strong allergic reactions now to plastics. By the time I need the surgery, will I tolerate the lenses?
Are you gonna need bail? 🤣🤣
I put the Wat Fund Jar on the counter just in case 🫙
"Blackberry flashmob!" 🤣🤣🤣
🥰 I'm slower these days... I'll drive the getaway car. 🚗
Don't laugh! You might be surprised where IVs get started! If we can't find a vein in a conventional spot, we'll search out (ahem!) other areas until we can get a central line placed.
Can confirm.
Last surgery, they got a small IV in the back of my hand (that was stick #7). Between starting that IV and knocking me out I heard at least 4 people mention that it was too small for the procedure. When I woke, the same IV was in the back of my hand, but I had 9 more bruises from attempts made to get a better line while I was out.
What happened to your computer? 😱
The computer is fine. But for an hour a day I need to strap into a therapy device. Of course it takes almost a half hour to get into the dang thing. Far less to get out. 😂
Yesterday she could not keep anything down.
Poor baby! I hate tummy issues. Hope she feels better soon. 🧸
I may need to help my daughter with rides to and from the dealership today. Also will see my GF and an evening of celebrating another widows birthday with other ‘WIDs’. We are an active group.
Sounds like a busy but fulfilling day, B2 🫂
I'm still trying to get the kids to realize that they don't fucking know everything and that with this customer, we're not in Kansas any more.
They may need the School of Hard Knocks and some Growing Up. You can only help with one of those... the other you can fertilize and water but they need to do the rest.
I started an IV in a boob... we gave code meds through it.... diabetic esrd on dialysis with a fistula... you do what you have to do
Oh, that poor patient. Not for the IV - thankful you were able to get a line started. But the rest of what they had going on. 🫂
It is. We r having fun. Today is brunch pool and tonight we are going to see cats at a local.yheatre
Makes me giddy. 💖I love how much fun you're having on this trip!! 🥰
Me too. I must always have a pair of readers within reach.
My mom was like that. When she passed I rounded them all up and donated the ones in good condition or still unopened in their packaging. 👓
This sort of grosses me out, but I have such a thing for nurses, I’d be like, “ok.”😂
Cautionary Tale: "She said she was a nurse, so I just let her do it." 😜
I tried cutting back. Tried being the key word. I don't drink two pots a day like I did so maybe I have cut back a little?
It's not easy - good job scaling back even a little bit. Do you have a long-term goal? I've found that coffee is something best tapered down very slowly to be successful.
Lots of projects planned for the day here. Maybe some rain coming too! 🤞
We need it right now!
Then this one will likely deliver a nice but not overwhelming bit of precipitation.
They look like cool whip
With a big, wonky heart in the center 💖

I will always have my degrees; they're earned and can't be taken away. It's the license to practice which is conferred by the state. It can be taken away, mostly for egregious infractions. In my case, I voluntarily let my license expire.
Yes Ma'am, they can't take away ones knowledge...
Similarly (I renew my license every 5 years, medical certificate every 2 years) it isn't the man who invested $21 million that decides if I'm qualified to run his boat for him, rather, it's a beauracrat up around the DC beltway...

Allot if the reason I retired. To much buracracy. Hang in there Boat

Good afternoon my friends.
Missed you!! 🫂 🫂
You freeze the berries to break them down then add 2lb of a bottle of whisky and up to 1lb of sugar subject to how sweet the berries are. Start with a half of sugar…. Set aside for 6 month then run off and filter… you can use the the berries in a pudding after.
New Recipe just dropped
Blackberry Whiskey will be featured on the Cafe Menu just in time for Valentine's Day 🥃 ♥️
Work is overrated!
^^ Underrated post 🤭

I am the same. I have my degree and postgrad diploma. The rest can be taken away or relinquished. I have given up a couple as I don’t practice in them any longer

Well, I did it… I threw track (hangs head in shame). 😂. This is the most embarrassing thing you can do as a tanker…

But it wasn’t bad. I just had to get it raised up in the air (2x6s and dig the front and loader up so the track was free.) Then un-tension it, used a breaker bar to get it back on the drive sprocket and return roller and then re-tensioned it. Lost about 2.5 hours worth of work, but just abt got everything done I wanted to.

Cleared some open space for hunting, blazed a bunch of trails, pulled out a fuckton of logs for firewood. So a success regardless.

However, I told a bunch of my old army buddies and they absolutely gave me the business. 😂😂😂

A guy who not a great soldier, Ryman (not real name) who was in our troop, broke track on a road in west Baghdad and of course they all broke my balls and compared me to him. But it was also a good catchup with a buncha guys who are some of the best cavalrymen I’d ever served with.

And now onto a late dinner.

Sad News fellow spoonies...
@Wonderer67 's Tank Credentials have been pulled

Sounds like a roller coaster of a day that ended on a positive note. Was fun to read, too.
Enjoy dinner

New Nickname just dropped:
Wreck-It Ralph 🤭

I remember, thanks to your story, a bit of an adventure with some flapdoodle trackery on a Case 475 cable plow. Think: fucked up up example of a 450. Anyway, I kinda remember limping it to a tree, taking out the grease fitting, and then driving that track into the tree trunk and applying some throttle. I think that a pin was coming out and we caught it in time. Twarn't too big a problem.

At least we didn't toss the track.
