There is something amiss at Literotica Central. After a 2 week wait,t this evening my 75th story was rejected because somebody thought it was AI-generated and I was asked to revise it. I have already resumbitted with a note saying I can't revise something that I wrote with no AI input. Before anybody asks if I allow Grammarly or any other tool to change sentence structure, I do not, and i know they are mistaken I am frustrated, hurt. annoyed and fearful that other stories which I have worked hard on may also be rejected. Has anybody got any suggestions. i am loath to message Laurel because she iso busy Thanks

There's nothing we can do for you in the AH. AwkwardMD has a thread here on the Editor's Forum that might help. There's also a sticky thread at the top of the AH forum with Laurel's general guidance on how to respond to a rejection.

That's something I've wondered about writing in general, be it school or whatever. I just don't feel a.i. is really up to that level where it can truly detect if it's written by a person or not.

It's also the same with plagiarism detectors. I wrote a poem for here and decided to check it. It claimed that I was plagiarizing, but yet those were all my own words. Maybe other writers used some similar sentences but no way that I plagiarized, but it wouldn't show me what it's source was. I want to see who I'm allegedly copying. So anyway, I just rewrote the whole thing, and it turned out completely different to what I was going for anyway.

I know this is going to sound harsh and will ruffle some feathers and roil some streams, but you absolutely can.

In my view, it's kind of cut and dried.
Since we have no control of the algorithm that tags works as AI and we have complete control over what we write, our choices are to change what we write(style is not and should not be sacrosanct) to try and avoid the scan or to not publish here.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Of course, I could change it, but I won't because it is my creation and I am happy with what I have written. If the only way to get it published is to change it, then forget it. I have no clue how much needs to be rewritten, and I am not going to mess about with a story that I wrote and rewrote to get it just right Furthermore if the moderator could take the time to read just one of my stories such as the Brooch they would appreciate that I am unlikely to stoop to the base level of getting a machine to write my stories . I also know that the moderator cant do this because they don't have the time. The result for erotica is if they don't get this right, they will drive a lot of authors away, but on the other hand, since they have so many authors churning out crap, maybe they don't care. Thanks for your input I just need to rant a little

Given that you have already resubmitted the story, it seems rather late to ask for suggestions.
The fact that it took two weeks to get a rejection suggests that Laurel did read at least some of it. Automated rejections tend to be processed more quickly, in the 1-3 day timeframe the site used to be able to operate at.
As a side note, if you're seeking sympathy, firing broadsides like "so many authors [on Literotica] churning out crap" is unlikely to be effective in that regard. Even if you weren't aiming at anyone in the AH, it makes it very difficult to feel any sense of solidarity with you.

You are right, of course, in your opinion regarding my use of the word crap and no insult is intended to anybody in particular. It is very frustrating to spend a lot of time trying to write well and then be accused of using AI. Rightly or wrongly, I feel as if I have been penalised for trying to be grammatically correct. The ill-advised comment regarding crap was a reference to the large number of poorly written stories on this site and not to the myriad of well-crafted ones. My fear is that these authors, who try harder; are more likely to be accused of using AI . I am a lapsed doctor (surprise) and researcher with many publications, and in that world, use of AI to write and plagiarism are serious offences, and I cannot help but be offended , even though i am sure there is nothing personal intended. FYI I have withdrawn mu submission and will reconsider my options which will not include changing it in any way

While it is undeniable that the site hosts many stories that contain various errors, most of the authors that frequent the AH are pretty good grammarians. Some are downright fussy; pedantic even! Very few regulars, if any, have come here to report about being rejected for AI. It's pretty safe to say that writing grammatically correctly is not, in itself, a trigger.

Here are some possibilities for you to consider. They may or may not be applicable, I'm just tossing out hypotheses.
1) Your earlier posts in this thread contained a number of errors. By itself, that hardly matters, as no one is grading them, and you were presumably in some degree of emotional turbulence. Many very competent writers spill their thoughts onto a page and then go back later to tidy them up, assuming there's a need to do so. If your forum posts are indicative of what your rough drafts look like, it's possible that you simply had some uneven editing in your submission. If there are sections of your work that are highly polished but others that you overlooked, that might seem suspicious.
2) You mentioned that you have publications in, I presume, medical journals or the like. I expect that means you have read a lot of them, too. You may have internalized the conventions of professional writing, which is (more-or-less) what LLMs are trained to produce, and what various grammar aides are trying to accomplish. It's possible that you and {whatever chatbot} have very similar notions about what constitutes a good sentence or paragraph, and your products are therefore hard to distinguish.

There have been dozens of threads on this same basic topic over the last couple of years, so a lot of people are weary of repeating the same advice. Our resident doctor (pun intended) has even turned it into a drinking game. I kind of believe there's a secret betting pool for whether or not any given poster upset about rejection eventually manages to get published... but if so, no one's invited me yet.

In this particular regard, it wouldn't help anyway. However, the resubmission process does invite comments. I know you already resubmitted, and you did write the note to say that you didn't use AI. So, there you have it, that's your message to Laurel.

It will just go through the review process again, and my suggestion right now is to just allow that process to proceed again. Since you have addressed the reason for the initial rejection, it's likely that she'll take that into account when she makes her decision the second time.

Thanks for taking the trouble to provide such a helpful reply. You are indeed correct in your. description of how I may. write/ I put my words down and tidy later, and often do not even write in chronological order. This may result in some blocks of text having a different finish from others.

I had this happen once. I contacted Laurel, explained the situation and she approved the story.

The AI screening isn't perfect and probably never will be.

We all need to accept the fact it could happen to any of our submissions and just reach out to the proper people who can actually help.
