Punk rock, Hardcore, Oi!, Garage, Metal, Ska, Indie (and whatever else) Discussion and Anarchy thread

On today’s date in 1977, Motörhead realized their debut album. It was a much different lineup, with Larry Wallace on guitar and Lucas Fox on drums. After Bomber it’s my favorite Motörhead album.

On the same date (August 12th, 1977), The Adverts released this crusher.

The Adverts - Gary Gilmore’s Eyes

Also on today’s date…

The Police released their new single on August 14th, 1978.

It was reissued in 1979 and went to number two in the UK. Didn’t even chart in the US… can’t understand why.

The Police - Can’t Stand Losing You

August 14th, 1995 - the britpop battle.

Blur vs Oasis

30 years ago today, Blur and Oasis released brand new singles on the same day.

Blur won out and both singles entered at number one and two respectively. I’ve always liked Blue over Oasis. Don’t hate me!

Too many memories, too many fights, too many beers, (teetotal now), too many band shirts , tho in process of selling them.
Too many gigs, lots of tears cheers and fears, but I've survived up til now.

All the older stuff has gone, mostly large size left. I'll check through what's left and make a list. Tho I have listed it on vinted. So if you have access to that you can see what's left. If not I'll get the list sorted.
