What's the appeal - - Honestly

When Jo and I lived in apartments, we had neighbors across the breezeway who never closed their blinds or turned off their lights. This man and woman made love in that room for the whole world to see. We had a security cam in the window, and sometimes, we'd watch the recording of them making love. I've never used it as a story, well, sort of have, not full on the way it happened.

I'm glad to see your eye back.

My voyeurism covers the spectrum, interest wise but is dominated by eavesdropping and people watching because of opportunity as much as anything. Although in unlimited opportunities, it probably would as well. Eventually I would get tired of chocolate mousse and crème brûlée too it that became my main diet

I just don't have the opportunity to people watch any more. Rural, only small country towns nearby where nobody dresses up.

Writing fictional erotic scenes allows us as authors to show why certain sexual acts or kinks appeal to our characters. The purpose of this thread is to allow us to explain why any particular act appeals to us in real life.

No judgement, just honest disclosure among the community members in the hopes that understanding why others find something appealing might get translated into more credible writing when the particular act appears in a story.

I’ll start…

Facials/Body Painting:

The appeal to me has changed somewhat over the years.

As a teen, the appeal was lessening the chance of getting some girl pregnant. I know, not the most reliable approach, but fortunately, it worked for me.

As I got older, and particularly after my vasectomy, the appeal became more of a practical one. Simply put, it made it easier for the girl/woman to clean up after the fact. If we planned to continue our escapades, starting fresh was appealing. (Then there was also the reduced risk of leaving any trace DNA evidence behind.)

First, I've never heard it called body painting before. So, I've learned something today.
But on a more serious note, what I find odd/interesting is how "creampie" has become a fetish.
Like people, that's actually how sex is intended to work. It's the whole damn point biologically speaking.

I blame the obsession with facials and all on porn. It's a visual medium, and if a guy cums inside his partner there's nothing to see.

Personally, during intercourse I hate having a partner pull out. You're in the moment, enjoying it, then all of a sudden he's going this way and that to pull out and aim somewhere.
It takes a moment of release and turns it into gymnastics.

My experience is the opposite of Emily MIller's -- my stories are 90%+ fantasy, not experience.
I forgot one thing, in which I’m in your camp. I write lots of FFFs, precisely because never did I ever, and likely never will now. It’s my one unfulfilled fantasy. And it is super attractive to me as an idea.

liking feet.

I don’t know why. Some are just beautiful and I wanna touch (and more). Not all.

Without even resorting to conditioned responses, they can be dirty. And if a person earlier walked barefoot through the grass, even if they had on sandals, sucking those toes could be a mouthful of e-coli, fertilizer, weed killer, and bug killer. Poison, quite literally. Mood killer, huh? And that’s not even considering the stuff living there as an ecosystem. So even for those of us who are smart enough to be aware of the risks, we still like them.

Second misunderstanding is that liking feet automatically means a submissive perspective. No. Some people just think a nice pair of feet are sexy.
This!! Personally I don't want to lick or suck on feet, nor have mine licked or sucked. And I don't think I have any kind of subby/dommy feelings towards feet.

But I find feet (some, not all) to be sexy! Foot rubs are sensual. Wiggling toes are cute. Seeing a glimpse of the soles of someone's feet is mildly exciting.

It's an interesting looking body part that isn't usually put on display, and that makes it exciting!
shibari - like bondage, but much prettier, just as calming.
I don't like bondage, I think I would have a claustrophobic panic attack, but shibari is aesthetically sooo pretty 😍

I have claustrophobia, but it doesn't affect me in that way. As long as I can see, I'm good.

Shibari takes it up a notch, though. The knots and spaces where the ropes cross add a different level of sensation to the experience. Some knot placements are much more thrilling than others and it's easy to wear this kind of bondage under clothes. The knots press and rub against skin and that can tick so many boxes at once. Especially pain, touch sensation, and exhibitionism - even though you're not exposed so much as simply being aware that a lighting change or breeze could give this secret away.

Bondage is like a firm hug from someone you trust. Shibari is closer to having that person you trust turn you into artwork to be put on display. You still get the hug throughout, but there's an element of exposure and anxiety that comes with it because it's meant to be seen and appreciated. It's no longer just a private hug, but a form of PDA, even if the only ones who know you're wearing it are you and your partner.

Also, the ropes leave very pretty bruises and markings for a while after.

I haven't done suspension, but I'd like to.

I find that quite similar to how I feel about the shoulder-clavicle area when exposed, i.e., this:

There's something about the delicate bony structure that's exciting. I wouldn't call it a fetish, just like you probably wouldn't call feet yours, but it's just... neat.

(And no, it's not about exposed bones in general; you can definitely miss me with prominently visible ribs, for example, unless they are from Korean BBQ).

Which is one of the reasons, I turn off when footplay enters the picture. Even where I am loving the story. I may read a little further but if it continues, I'm out. and I read a lot of domination stories.

I have to admit, in my novel, one side character has a foot fetish and, although it is never described, it is the subject of a half dozen jokes across the book.

I found I tend to have domination of some sort enter into many of my non-LW stories. One reason is the raw emotional component of someone who is convinced to submit to another. I also tend to write in the first person for that same reason.

I wrote a few long stories about a judicial slavery universe. One is told in the third person. The second 2 in the first. I tried to make the society as true to life as I could. Not that slavery is true to life, but I wanted the characters to behave as close to true to life as possible. (How would a real person respond in a given situation.)

This is seriously one of the most disturbing posts I've ever seen.

oh my good God... 🖤

It's quite difficult to explain why certain things appeal to me, other than the fact that they do for some inexplicable reason. That said, I can speculate.

Bondage: I find the idea of being restrained and helpless very erotic, coupled with that of being controlled in some kind of (usually) unfair way. In some ways, it contrasts with my personality -- I'm normally quite independent and like to be in control of things. So maybe on a personal level there's a taboo aspect to it, like a "this is horrifying and shouldn't appeal to me but it does" kind of thing. The thought of repeatedly trying and failing to escape, or having to resign oneself to some lowly situation where one is trapped and bossed around by a superior/owner, simply evokes strong visceral feelings that are a turn-on in their own strange way. A lot of my stories center around exploring these themes.

Feet: I like the nonhuman variety of this fetish and explore it in several stories, typically feeturing(!) anthropomorphic and fantasy characters. Again it's difficult to articulate why. I suppose if you take a barefoot character with sharp talons, large claws, prehensile toes, etc., it not only looks raw and primal, but gives off a strong domination or predator/prey vibe as well. That said, I'm very picky about this one. 😅

Not a very kinky guy but to me the appeal of any sexual act is either the flattery that a woman wants to please me so much that she enjoys making me feel so good or the flattery that I can make a woman feel so good.

One other thing I'm aware of is that to me a lot of sex an element of implicit surrender/domination. I experience the woman happy to surrender to me, to let me do what I want to do to her, and I feel something like power. Like I can take whatever I want and what I want is her and I'm taking her and she might as well enjoy it because it's happening anyway. Explicitly consensual, but implicitly not so much. Seems to me that a lot of women enjoy that too. Someone smarter than me can tell us how much of this is biological and how much is cultural, but I feel a sense of "real masculinity" and "real femininity" in moments like that.

In terms of specific acts and positions and so on, sometimes we're in the mood for romance, sometimes for fucking, sometimes it's my turn, sometimes it's hers, sometimes we're in it together, sometimes it's been a bit too long, sometimes she owes me an apology (lol but really), so depending on stuff like that, different acts have different appeals.
