Missing avatars

I’ve only ever uploaded an avatar on the Control Panel => Options page. And that still has my avatar. Where else do you have to upload it?

Now if I go to the forum account settings and click "Edit" on the blank avatar it leads me to the Control Panel => Options page. Maybe we can't have separate avatars.

I tried that, uploaded and it says waiting for moderation now. THat might take a while give the # of people impacted

I uploaded one of the avatars I used in the forums years ago. If it gets through moderation it should be my avatar in the forum and the story side.

Mine isn't disabled. The "Edit" link appears when I mouse over the white avatar.

Did the blue "upload" arrow appear when you moused-over the avatar on your profile? You apparently can't delete/edit, just upload your "new" one. That's how I made mine work.

It's there for me. There is possibly other magic going on as we speak type.

Long story. The cougar is the avatar I used while I was writing the first chapter in A Valentine's Day Mess. The very green avatar was something I uploaded after we transitioned to the new forum software and there were problems getting avatars up. It was a random shot that stayed up because changing it wasn't a priority.

Not sure the cougar is going to stay up, either.

I'm going to be sad when/if TxRad's avatar disappears, since he's not around to replace it. I downloaded a copy of it some time ago in case it disappeared, but I don't have a way to install it. Maybe a DM to Laurel and Manu.

Avatars for SamScribble and Oggbashan are in the same "at risk" situation.

The pic is safely stored on my computer. If the site doesn't return it automatically soon, I'll upload it again. I'm pretty sure that most people think my pic is the best thing about me.

I only added an avatar because I didn't like the color that my N was. Can't even remember what it was now though. But if I'd simply been able to change the color, I probably never would've bothered.

I re-uploaded my avatar. Ten minutes later it was fixed. I don't know whether the one caused the other.

Yes. Just clicked on "edit", which took me to my Control Panel, then clicked the "upload" arrow, selected the .PNG file and clicked "save".

Maybe it will be taken down again, if they're running some kind of purge.

I received a message from Laurel and Manu. It looks like some kind of glitch. They asked me re upload the avatar and see what happens. So I recommend that those of you experiencing this try that.

Now I just have to find where that avatar photo is.

It’s still there on the story side. Why not just take a screenshot of it?

I know a bunch of us use Google Drive, so it may be worthwhile to save a copy of our avatars there. These kinds of things happen sometimes. Usually it's just a glitch and they can fix it. Sometimes data (in this case images) gets lost. That sucks but it's one of those things that happens so it's not a bad idea to have a backup somewhere.

I was half thinking of being consistent with my blog / BlueSky avatar, but I guess I’m used to this one for here.
