Learned to scuba dive about 1 year before Jaws. Never thought twice about going diving. It is too much fun to give up. Never worried about sharks.

Ill debate with anyone that movie had the biggest impact on the world in terms of perception of something.
You will NEVER go in the ocean and not think about it, even for half a second...after seeing that movie.
Yes, theres been bigger movies, better movies, more interesting, scarier, whatever...but youll never look at the ocean the same again.

I think itd depend where I am a bit more. By Australia? South Africa? Yep...f that.
I went snorkeling in Hawaii and a 5 ft reef shark (forgot if white tip or black to be fair) swam right through my legs, well...3 feet below my legs...freaked the fuck out of me.

I have had multiple encounters with reef sharks, both white tip and black tip, as well as nurse sharks. No problems up to now. My favorite encounters was with a whale shark.

I swam with a giant turtle in Hawaii.
I kayaked next to five seals a couple weeks ago in Whidbey Island area.

But dont think Ive ever seen a whale shark or anything super insane happen

I had three there. First went great. Immediately two days later I had a second one which went a bit odd in my perception and how I felt (good, bad, and just weird)...and then they asked for a third, which also went very mixed...and i would ahve taken it but been looking for something more suited for me in terms of industry, and fit.
