The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

I'm not outside that much. I did some yard work over the weekend, but not that much. You know Jo drives the mower (and almost everything else) in the family. I did some weeding under my office window and planted some perennials for next year.
Maybe the heat is catching up with you. It's really draining. Doesn't break there until Friday, relief here tomorrow.

The report is out the door, figuratively speaking.

I probably have seven pounds of Armenian cucumbers in fridge. I've been postponing the work to start them fermenting for pickles. It's time to delay no more.

uhg.....why did you have to say that.....I have to make pickles too....I dont want to....damnit....It is a never ending cycle of making pickles in my house....And I'm the one that makes them...40 jars at a time...

The cucumbers never last long enough round here to become pickles.

In other news, last night I realized the MC of the short story I'm working on has a stutter, and so I went to research that to make sure I'm getting it right. Then today while hanging laundry I went, "Hey wait a minute, long pauses in sentences is one of the ways that a stutter can manifest... Does that mean Captain Kirk had a stutter?"

That's a lot of pickles. Are they all cucumbers?

I started two one-gallon fermenting jugs. They should be ready to can at the end of August/beginning of September. That was 8 lbs of Armenian cucumbers. Still have a pound+ left.

I think that'll be all the spears we need for a year. We're still using last year's.

Yup, all cucumbers...

I make and sell pickles at our local farmers market...and they sell reeeeeally well. So I have to make them 40 jars at a time, or I run out real quick. And I make 3 flavors, so each time I make them, I make a different flavor. (the 40, allows them to last, theoretically, until the next round of making that flavor)

Alright....so It's 3:30 pm on thursday...I'm halfway through my baking for the day..AND I've got 2k words written. Bringing me up to 4k words for Chapter 7. Which I am very happy about. Crazy thing is, those 4k words...Is, from Beginning of a sex scene, to falling asleep. So while it's not ALL sex...it's mostly sex...

But...it is a big sex scene...Lesbian threesome...and a turning point for one of the characters...so I had to make sure it was done well...plus I had three women to please...that takes time and words...lol (and I'm not even counting the foreplay scene that ended out chapter 6...lol)

I. Can. Not. Win. I cannot win.

Broke the rain/dry cycle last week so everything is finally dry, then the heat dome moved on last night, so highs are in the low 80s, with no HX. Now we're all armed and ready to attack four weeks of lawn and weed growth this weekend.

NOT!

Air quality alert. The smoke from the Canada wildfires blew in earlier this evening, and we are now in a "unhealthy for all persons" warning. I attempted to start on the front lawn around 7:30, and got a couple of small areas done before it became evident that "all persons" included me. Shit. Just shit.

I guess the next thing to expect is the Russian tsunami to come 800 miles up the Mississippi to inundate everything. It's been a strange summer, so why not that, too? Criminy.

Yeah. 'Bout there. It's supposed to dissipate late tomorrow night, and no rain through the weekend, so Saturday and Sunday, hopefully.

My WIP (possibly for the Summer Lovin' contest) has a title! It's Their Orgasm Game.

It's slated for Toys and Masturbation, which is an odd category. A lot of the stories are under 2K words, and the ratings are typically consistent with the story size (low). Traffic is also low, similar to Anal.

But it knocks one more category off the list of categories I haven't written for.

Last night was Open Mic Night at the NotWise Cantina.

There were three comments on old stories. One was effusively complimentary. The other two (by the same reader) left me shrugging my shoulders. They weren't insulting, but I may never make the guy happy, so I don't get why he's reading me. In one case he seemed to want an icky-sweet sibling romance that I didn't give him. In the other case he had unanswered questions that left me wondering, "Why would anybody ask that?"

I saw the less-than-5* votes come in, so at least I could thank the guy for explaining his opinions.

Oh, I'm having a great day! haven't even started writing yet, but that's ok. I went and got the kids registered for school...and made my ex cry (without even trying to) so honestly, my day can't really get much better than this :) I'll be sailing high for the rest of it...

Another day, another headache and packed sinuses. The Bennies aren't doing much.

Benadryl? Gosh, Millie, there are much more effective OTC antihistamines now, they don't make you nearly as drowsy, and you only need to take them once a day. Try Claritin (loratadine) or Zyrtec (cetirizine). I don't recommend Allegra (fexofenadine) - it gives me nightmares. Really. It's a known side-effect. Antihistamines can mess with the brain, and other things.

One of the side-effects of getting old is pharmacy-level knowledge of medications. Firsthand. 😞

I find it best to switch between Loratadine and Certirizine every season or my body builds up a resistance and they stop working. Benadryl is great for short term though. Like I go to hang laundry and notice some fucking lilies growing in the woods, I'll duck inside and take a brenadryl now and then something more long term later.
