She had a go at somebody else over the weekend as well - they can choose to out themselves if they want. Something that I want to emphasize though is that IMHO there is no 'right' way to respond - no 'you SHOULD'. Do what's comfortable or what you find most empowering. You can choose to laugh it off, to delete it, to report it, or to treat it as serious criticism according to your inclination. The comment that I saw was gratituously insulting to the author, misgendered them, was very long, and had little valid literary merit. It's usually nice when people read our stories and chose to invest time in a comment, but that doesn't give them a free pass to be a bully or to make people feel horrible about themselves.
