View attachment 2555011Any of our Spooners have any experience w Generac full home generators? Momma has decided that her Subaru portable Gen with a suicide cord ain’t cutting it anymore and wants to go whole hog with a total system. I’ve heard mixed reviews on them, but that was some time ago. The one positive is that it would run her AC. The Subaru only runs the lights and outlets. Her power lines are above ground so they tend to lose power a lot longer than we do with buried lines. Last big hurricane power was out over two weeks for her street. We were up and running in 16 hrs.

Oh, did I mention she’s 82? Momma gets what she wants at this point…I just want to give her good advice as to any downsides. Thanks in advance for any gouge!

Taking her out today for lunch and a visit to her brother. We’re going to the local Generac store to see what they got. Hurricane season isn’t really the time to be shopping but we’ve had so many other distractions this year.

AK MZ——now go enjoy an early weekend!
My husband put in a Generac 14K KWH whole house generator years ago. It came with a new breaker panel and transfer switch. It automatically turns off the power from the street before the generator comes on, then reverses when street power is restored.

Our power lines are buried but the ones less than a mile away that lead to our street are not. Trees, wind, ice, and heavy snow take them down.

We had a 5000 KWH portable generator. My husband installed a transfer switch for it. In the event of a power failure, we had to roll the generator out, attach the power cable to the transfer switch, make sure it was gassed up, pull the ripcord to start it, and manually do the transfer. He decided he didn't want me to have to do that by myself when he could no longer see well enough to do it.

We've had the WH generator for >10 years with no problems. It does get serviced regularly. I never really thought we needed one that badly. Our power outages do not happen regularly like you guys in the East experience.

Generac is a good brand. You can also get them hooked up to natural gas which would probably be cheaper and easier if you have natural gas... usually about 6 weeks with permits, electrician and gas company hook ups. Cycles once a week and you can have the monitor app on your I phone.
I didn't know they had an app! I'll look to see if they have any Android version.

Let's keep fishin! It's just a little rain! ⚡️🌩⚡
To be fair, he didn't actually get struck by lightning. He got tickled a bit because he was holding an antenna when the lightning flashed. (Ok, I'm leaving out all the juicy engineering and sciencey details... ). But he really only had a small sample twice.

It is sad that Thor had to give him two warning shots, tho! 🤣

My colitis pain may have driven away some teen girls. I was shopping for a can opener. They were blocking shelves in the kitchen section while they yakked. The pain affected my breathing, so I exhaled audibly a few times. They may have thought I was creepy or annoying when they walked away.
"I was just trying to breathe through my pain, Officer!" 🤣🤣🤣

Here's your sign! 🤣🤣🤣

i have so many rifles in 7.62x39.

I don’t think I’d mind an orphan cal.

I assume the 30.06 for that would have to be M2 ball 150 gr rather than newer 180 hr… I have a buncha that too… so maybe…

I still think my next purchas’ll be another old school revolver.
My "go to" is a Ruger GP 100... It's just like pointing my finger.
Edit.. I neglected to mention it's .357 Mag
