Most of the contraceptives have less than 70% of their shelf life left before they expire, the spokesperson said, and rebranding and selling the contraceptives could cost several million dollars. However, the aide who visited the warehouse said that the earliest expiration date they saw on the contraceptives was 2027, and that two-thirds of the contraceptives did not have any USAID labels that would need to be rebranded.

Agreed. As well intentioned as humanitarian aid can be it never addresses the problems of the tyrannical and dysfunctional governments who created the humanitarian crises in the first place.

Some countries and cultures prefer tyrannical and dysfunctional governments. They just do.

Leftists commonly view government as some sort of charitable institution. This flies in the face of the fact that even leftist-run charities do a far better job of delivering targeted assistance to people in need than government does.

After Katrina leftist charities built homes in New Orleans well before FEMA did.

When they direct their energy towards social needs even Antifa does a commendable job of helping people. I've seen them in action.

The problem with the failures of some leftist charities is they reinforce the leftist belief that only government can be trusted with charitable/tax dollars and the failure is then compounded when the same people who run leftist charities end up running government relief agencies.

There is also a leftist bias against providing direct assistance to individuals unless the amounts involved are small and spread out over time.

Thus with LA fire relief the $100m that was raised is going to liberal/left groups and not a penny is going to individuals who may need it for rebuilding.

Myself, I have friends in Palisades who lost their home and I've been focusing my efforts on their family. I know where it's going and I can trust them to use it wisely. And no one is skimming the money for questionable administrative expenses.
