I was certain you were mistaken about White Claw being a Canadian product but it turns out you were....sort of correct? On a recent business trip to Toronto I talked with someone in an airport bar about the Canadians boycotting American products. They were annoyed that people didn't know White Claw, though wildly popular in the USA, is actually a Canadian product and shouldn't be boycotted!
They're dropping everything from bourbon to vacation travel to Florida!
A Canadian company introduced White Claw hard seltzer in the USA exclusively in 2016, and then began selling it in Canada (different formula) when the popularity took off.
Different formulation in Canada...USA uses el cheapo fermented sugar as a base, Canadian product uses distilled vodka as a base.
Didn't realize until today that the average alcohol content in White Claw was 5% (okay....I knew THAT part) but the "Blood Orange" and the rest of the "White Claw Surge" flavors are 8% alcohol.
