Who stole all the fun threads?

We had a bunch of good ones going, now it's all back to the usual dreck!!!
Harsh! But also, I DO kinda wish the "word chain" and "post office" and other threads could get moved into a sub-forum for word games and such... I don't want the people who enjoy them to miss out, but they really do take up so much forum space and push worthy threads off the front page!

EDIT: actually, there IS a sub-forum for Writing Challenges and Exercises, "Fun and skill-sharpening games and exercises for writers." Would it make people really mad if those threads got moved there?

Were you the one who posted a message about not having to see the games? I meant to answer.
My approach is to depend solely on alerts. I never scroll through the list of messages in AH. I put a watch on AH and other forums, and then I put a watch on all threads that interest me. I never see those game threads.

...after reading through now I'm wondering if the Oxford comma has been discussed here.
Oh, wow! The Oxford comma!! There's a professional association that takes points off your submissions if you don't use the Oxford comma. Its an association dedicated to dealing with dyslexia. What???????

No, this is the first time I've mentioned it, must have been someone else!

I don't think that workflow would work for me personally, I often unsubscribe to threads when the start getting contentious or repetitive, and I like reading new threads that I haven't read and missed since the last time I peeked at the forum. It's just hard when half the front page is taken up by these word games!

If the thread starters are no longer current posters, I put them on ignore

Speaking of preponderance of threads in AH… does anyone feel the “stuck in pending” ones are the 2025 equivalent of 2024’s “flagged for AI”? 🧐
I've been wondering about that, too. For a while, it seemed like people getting AI rejections were getting them pretty promptly, or within the normal time frame for any action on a pending story. It's made me think that the site might be putting stories flagged for potential AI into a separate queue that doesn't get much attention until everything else is done for the day. It's something I might do if I was getting hundreds of submissions a day, anyway.
