Yes, the radio serial had him fly, introduced Kryptonite, and gave him X-Ray vision, and super speed. The radio series also snuck in a few gems for the adults listening along. In one episode Lois Lane is knocked out, stripped, and dressed in the clothes of a gangster's moll who is a doppleganger for Lois so that the moll can both plant the crime on Lois and live out in the open as the "Daily Planet's" ace reporter. By paying careful attention to the dialogue, it is clear that the imposter stripped Lois right down to the skin and the moll's gangster boyfriend may (or may not) have exited the room while the change was taking place! Incredibly daring for a 1940s kids program! That makes sense.
And following up on my previous post:
Originally, Superman: couldn’t fly; he didn’t have heat / X-ray vision; he didn’t have super hearing; he didn’t have freeze breath; and he didn’t have "super" speed (he was fast, but not Flash fast).
So originally, Superman basically had super strength and invulnerability- just like a Golem.
