Everything Baseball

They've been maddening for a few years LOL
I hope they can turn it around; I'm tired of sitting at home, watching other teams play in October.

I agree with that - especially the last few years. I try to remind myself that I/we are slightly spoiled. Titles in '06 and '11, but still, it's been a bit, and they don't seem to be worth a damn at developing and retaining pitchers anymore.

I acknowledge that I am super spoiled. I was there for the 2006 Championship win, plus attended Games 4 & 6 in 2011. I need that feeling again LOL

Mets drop double header to Baltimore, pitching really sucks, everyone has glass arms except Peterson..Stanek four blown saves and five losses, back to Syracuse pal..😝

Now they’re 7-3 in the their last 10. I don’t trust them or their bullpen. But I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

Michael Wacha in 2022 (on the road)

Pedro Martinez was the last to do it at Fenway (2000)

And Boston extends their win streak to 10 in a row. 53-45
Both Toronto and the Yankees lost today.
Hope they can maintain some momentum. Real tough stretch after tha all star break. 3 best teams in the NL.

We all know the Devers trade was to save money, not for the bullshit excuses ownership and Breslow came up with, but maybe the guy WAS Nomar 2.0 and was fucking up the clubhouse

It care never be underestimated how much of a clubhouse cancer one guy can be and how much better a team can be when they are gone no matter how much talent you think they have. As a Padres fan we saw this well demonstrated recently with Juan Soto. Addition by subtraction.

Oh, definitely. That's why I mentioned Nomar Garciaparra. The 04 Red Sox don't win the world series that year if they don't trade him

Part of the problem was that management did not talk to Devers about the impact of bringing in Bregman in a way that made him feel valued. It does remind me of the history of the Red Sox having success moving players from third to first. George Scott; Kevin Youkilis. It seems like commincations with Devers were bungled, and he just started to be resenful. I'm not saying that excuses his attitude, but just that its a factor.
He certainly hasn't done much for the Giants so far. Other than hit a homer of Bello

Devers sucks defensively and Bregman just won a gold glove (in addition to being a better hitter). I get being upset that they didn't talk to him before signing Bregman but mocking Devers to DH and putting a gold glover with a better bat at 3B objectively makes the team better. Winning trumps ego, especially in Boston. We value dirt dogs over divas here. It's why Tim Wakefield was so revered--do whatever the team needs to win.

I've read reports of Devers not showing up for planned 1B fielding work since arriving in San Fran. At this point it's pretty clear that a good part of the problem is Devers himself. Yes, Breslow is a know-it-all dick and Henry is treating the Sox like an ATM to fund his soccer dreams but Devers was a big part of the issue as well.
