The Isolated Blurt Thread XXXVII: You're Welcome, Fuckers

Ugh like I hate the micro conversations you have with certain people. Like you want more but the situation won't really allow it. So I vent here instead of making a fool of myself.

God its such a weird relationship.

yesterday was... interesting

Saturday afternoon I did a huge sneeze and then my back decided it was gonna be a bitch because of that. Still did what I had to do but come Sunday morning I had to take on of H's strong painkiller tabs he has leftover (not the oxy, tho) in order to be able to manage keeping his mum company in church. It did really well on knocking back the pain but I felt so dunk! It was reallllllllllly hard keeping awake in church and my head was so woozy. Not taking those again

100 degrees out there yesterday, 90 at 7pm. Sun's burnt my carrots, half-killed the cuke vegetation and it's just way too hot out there for me. Laundry day, I guess :)

Weird coincidence: I recently had a sneeze sneak up on me just as I took a big swig of my smoothie, and I didn’t have time to gulp it down, and I didn’t want to spew it all over the room, so I suppressed the sneeze internally, and I felt something pop in my back (a rib?).

That was pretty much the end of my day - though I didn’t need any pain killers, just a good deal of stretching and a second pop that seemed to set things right.

😳

Side question: Was your painkiller Cyclobenzaprine???

🤔

I tried that stuff once for some serious neck pain and it was like being stone drunk (and it didn’t really help).

😳

gosh, I'm glad yours popped back into place and things were good for you after :D Mine stems from a slight but been-there-forever misalignment of my spine in the lumbar region; most of the time it's ok, and when my back muscles were stronger (gymnastics as a kid and work later in life) they held it pretty well. But when something odd like that sneeze happens, or if I reach forward while bending at just a certain angle, then it causes pressure on my nerves there and then I'm in a heap of trouble for around a week or so.

Painkillers mean I can work around it but it also means it takes longer to settle but this time of year it's almost impossible just to do nothing when there's so much needs doing. The one I took that messed me up was labeled Hydrocod/Acetam. It's never good practice to take meds prescribed for someone else and it's a rare thing for me to do it. Never again ;)

Welp, Hydrocodone is a mild, semi synthetic opioid, so…

They gave me a prescription for some pretty high mg Hydrocodone after a nasty wisdom tooth extraction fiasco (my regular dentist who took out two of my wisdom teeth no problem was out of the office and I got a hack - the receptionist even gave me a worried look as I went back to the "operating room").

🤬

I never took any of the Hydrocodone, as opioids freaked me out after watching videos of opioid addicts in health class (mega-dosed on Aleve for a week and survived).

👍

Sadly, I have known a fuckton of people (in my work in forensic psychiatry & in private life) who succumbed to prescription opioids (and then graduated to heroin, etc) before getting incarcerated or dying…

Oh yes, Flexeril. I had that for back spasms. It does work but I could only take 1/4 of the pill. It knocks me out.

Yeah, that was the name “Flexeril” - and I really wish I had known how potent it was before taking it.

I think I actually hurt my neck more than it was when I was on “Flexeril”, because I was so out of it that I didn’t / couldn’t keep up my physical therapy exercises properly.

Eventually (after a week or so) I said fuck it and stopped taking “Flexeril” and focused on the PT exercises. My neck injury progressed much better once I did that, and it ultimately seemed stronger than ever (I had a great physical therapist).

Maybe I’ll try the 1/4 “Flexeril” pill dosing if I ever get a serious muscle strain again. (Does the 1/4 pill dose still make you loopy???)

Ive never been above 12,000 ft and had it be "comfortable"... Despite the 10,000mph wind speeds.

The world is fucking burning!

I do not understand how my dog’s tangerine-sized brain works. It can be 15° out and she will nap on 12” of snow. Today she’s sprawled on our patio. That patio currently feels like a pizza stone. I think her tangerine is missing a few seeds.
