LGBTQIA+ Daily Vibe II

My little corner of the world has been having a kinda prolonged heat wave! For most of y'all out there you'd probs laugh at us, but when it gets around 21c-26c here everyone wilts.....
My home is sweltering! I'm just wearing shorts, no top and dreaming of snow.....

Mood: giggly, wondering about my day
Listening to: construction across my street, and also Black Whales, Man of the Midnight Moon
Wearing: as little as I can
Oh I like - Black Whales.... yeay, new music :)

Although I have had people just scoff and say “Oh, that's just fake science.” Willful ignorance is self-sustaining.
Right there! This sadly seems to have become the stock reply of so many now! It truly frustrates me to no end!
They feel like they have shut down any further discussion by saying "fake news" or "fake science"

Scientific American, which is a widely respected science journal, has published a number of helpful articles on the science behind gender variations. It's worth taking a look, if you want to have some documentation on hand.

Yea, since she's a biologist I cited the Clown Fish that change it's gender through environmental changes, then asked why is it throughout history, mankind has regarded itself as 'special' and different to the rest of the biological world? Grr

I think I gave a good account :)

Before we ended up arguing ( not really discussing ) she did amuse me by quoting some of her students who use the expression, sincerely 'My truth' without noticing how stupid it makes them sound!! My truth = My opinion

We're having similar temperatures here in upper Maine. I find them just fine when the barometer’s high and the humility’s low— and almost insufferable when the opposite is true. Which has been the case recently.

So much this too!
Thing is, I have found myself in a perilous position after asking this kind of question and felt the full weight of those and their religious convictions...
To me, religion is another way to answer anything not understood and not have to think about it.

It's only western civilisation that has this rigid, binary gender view, with men as superior to women, despite recent half-assed equality legislation. It all goes back to initial spiritual ideology that was interpreted by men for their own benefit: why would they let women even read, let alone have any agency? So we get the Old Testament. In the UK our laws might have a secular stamp applied, but they're based on centuries-old bigotry that goes back beyond the Magna Carta.

My old friend kept saying 'well it's society that needs to change' without even thinking how ridiculous that sounded.... her truth huh?!

PS Have you ever heard the tale of Lilith in a religious context? Makes a fun read! :)

Started training for my new position at work. It is one of the few positions that is very metrics driven with lots of employee engagements and audits improving quality and sellability. I actively try to recover costs that would normally be thrown away. Really fun stuff, I get to see corporate financials and how much the building actual makes and loses, it's a hell of a lot more than I thought. Some people where upset I got the position, others that I have worked with for a while are super happy. Only took 2 days before "diversity hire" was thrown my way. Meh. I earned it this time as they have completely abandoned DEI practices and all hiringnis done outside the building. I'm dreading the next 2 days as I don't have the best working relationships with the end of week shift leadership. Can't wait to go back to my regularly scheduled night shift. My Spanish is less than terrible, and on days it is the dominant language and I am struggling with it. That's all about I have to brag about. Cooked some weird left over food for dinner last night. Was, ok. Just finished my mocha peppermint latte, and now getting prepped to finish my kitchen - the under sink garbage disposal grenaded itself. Like throwing a brick into a washing machine. Will not be putting in another disposal.

Mood: tired and salty
Listening to: Juanes - La Camisa Negra
Wearing: Glasses and nothing else 😉

Holy smokes! I had zero idea the name Lilith has so much background! This morning I had to go looking to see what it is you alluded to and it opened a huge amount of historical stuff going waaaaay back.

Lilith reads like a strong, independent woman that wasn't gonna bow down to anyone. My kind of woman :rose:

I know it's all fairy-tale but it's clear what God ( aka Jewish/Christian bloke with beard ) actually thinks of women. 'You see girls - lie under your man and do what he says or we'll commit infanticide' .... now where have I read that recently?

Fun times today! Some new faces in town chatted me up while I was doing the grocery thing and found out they are on a sailboat docked in our port.
They are doing a journey around the americas (north & south) and are waiting for the sea ice to open up north of here.
They invited me down to the boat, so had awesome time chatting an trading stories!
It's really fun hearing first impressions from visitors to this out of the way corner of the world!

Wearing: skirt n' T

Mood: sleepy girl...

Beautiful boat
I don't know much about boats, but yeah, this one is pretty neat. The cabin inside was messy, I mean they have four people living in tight space, but still it was fun to see!
They seemed pretty excited to have someone new to hang with for a bit...I can imagine after days out in the ocean, new faces are awesome

The thing that stood out to me also reading about Lilith was anytime a woman stands up for herself, or trys to live an independent life, how quickly they get branded as evil, a demon, one to fear. I have to wonder if this could be how women were accused of being witches back in the Salem trial days?

I think they weren’t expecting hot chicks in the arctic

Didn't you comment a while back you don't like hot weather?
If it was you, this could be a good place for you ❄️
I'm planning on it. Once btc hits 120, I am out like a girlscout. I have a "few" coins left for retirement/rainy day.

Spent the weekend (part of it anyways) 60 miles north of town at a hot springs! Weather was amazing, good people, food, and of course soaking in the springs.
In a couple of days I leave to do some travels down in the pacific northwest. Looking forward to my time down there, it's pretty random so not even sure how long I'll be on the road. Lots of friends to see, and possibly time in the Cascades.

Mood: dreading packing, excited to go.....
Wearing: wrap skirt n' pullover
