I take issue with The Bear (even though I love it) because somehow it's listed as a comedy on these awards shows, which I believe they submit themselves for. It's no more a comedy than Better Call Saul. It's an excellent show, and would be worthy of awards in its actual category (granted not as many), but competing for awards as a comedy against shows like What We Do In The Shadows for example, is disingenuous.

Think of it like MTV's THE REAL WORLD only with vampires and other supernaturals. With a premise like THE OFFICE. If you aren't coughing your lungs out in laughter by the second episode, that's a shame.

There is a movie that preceded it, set elsewhere with a different cast - the series is...an offshoot of that. Anything else said spoils some of the fun.

the movie is brilliant.
the tv show may in fact be better...but since the movie is one 90 min ish movie and thee tv show is like 5 seasons of 10 30 min episodes, well, much more time to create silliness and develop characters etc
a few episodes may seem like "clunkers" but most are fucking hilarious

I definitely think the show was better. The movie had good moments and a fun premise, but damn, Staten Island? The blatent vulgarity? Nadja? Colin Robinson? Brutally good stuff.
