One Big Beautiful Bill Act

This is plausible. The rich always benefit from Republican economic policy. Republicans win on social issues: crime, race, and immigration. Those who share my dislike for Trump should understand his appeal to those who are not rich. Trump appeals to those who fear trends in our society. White factory workers fear losing their jobs to nonwhites at home and abroad. They should fear factory robots. Small business owners fear socialism. They should fear the competition of large companies. Christian conservatives fear a society that is becoming increasingly secular. They should fear the bad image their support for a pagan like Trump gives Christianity.

The OBBB reduces the projected rate of increase in Medicaid spending which is characterized as a “cut” in Washington.

Here’s the CBO’s prediction about the Medicaid reforms over the next ten years.

Medicaid is not collected as money. It's used when receiving care.

So people will be losing care and hospitals will be losing money because their ER load will increase.... Which will result in lower staffing and decreased care for all.

Medicaid spending will continue to increase under the bill, but the rate of increase will be less than it would be if the bill doesn’t pass. I shared the CBO prediction about the impact on people affected by the bill.

Yes, because people will be denied access to needed care. People who can't afford care (i.e. fuck you poor people)

Per the CBO, able bodied adults between the ages of 19 and 64 who have no dependents and don’t meet the community engagement requirements for participating in work activities for 80 hours a week could lose access.

Yes, people who are poor and miss paperwork deadlines will lose access.

Which means hospitals will increase their costs due to emergency medical care increase.

Which means that hospital care will decline for everyone.

Adding in credits to compensate for immigrant emergency care being lost.

Hospitals and urgent cares will be closing as a result of this.

All for a small amount of savings relative to spending.

Even healthcare coverage typically does require some paperwork, even government subsidized coverage.

Lol...yes, of course

I have a friend with a mother who has dementia. Let me just tell you based on her long winded explanation of things - the goal isn't accountability... It's to add more to the obstacle course so that people unwillingly lose coverage.

Murkowski on her vote FOR the BBB.
"My sincere hope is that this is not the final product," she said in a statement. "This bill needs more work across chambers and is not ready for the President's desk. We need to work together to get this right."
So she voted yes on a bill she doesn't believe is complete and is now expecting the House to recognize and change things.

LMAO

It's like passing back and forth like a game of hot potato! Delay, delay, delay.

While the Alaska dingbat bitch is being trashed let's not forget that pug face VP was a tie breaker. A sitting VP willing to destroy the lives of poor and working class Americans, and make everyone pay even more for energy. Didn't he run around calling himself a hillbilly? He must have forgotten his roots. They should all have their healthcare taken away, since they want to take it away from struggling people, let them pay for their own.

One thing missing as far as I can tell is just how long it's going to take us to recover from being the oligarchy Trump is creating. Sick people with tons of debt; the dumbing down through a lack of federal support AT ALL for education and research; the selling of our national treasurers like parks and waterways to private bidders; and AI pushing more and more misinformation into the expanded idiot class's heads.

We won't even be a third world country.

"Oh no, the sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!!!"

Now run around like a headless chicken like all the other "can't think for myself" crowders are.

It's not falling in states where people have high earning jobs and are well run. As much as I hate this, knowing Trump voters are going to hurt assuming the Dems dont reverse everything is going to be nice. Trump districts have higher medicaid enrollment levels so I hope they die faster.

My “sky is falling” award goes to 1174 who suggested people under 65 with dementia might be impacted by the Medicaid reforms in the bill because healthcare coverage requires paperwork. If a relative, friend, social worker or community volunteer isn’t there to assist with the form, disaster will follow.

You can find those folks damn near every where. They are living on the street and virtually all of them have substance abuse problems.

In California, if you go to the ER because you have no insurance, you automatically get enrolled in Medicaid (MediCal as it’s called in CA). No means testing.

Many will be impacted.
You just believe they won't

Let's hope you never have to find out.

Um, er, ah. You seem to need to dot all of your i's and cross all of your t's but I think your 80 hours is more like per month. Which, sounds reasonable if it hadn't been proven to be a disaster in Arkansas:

"Here's why Arkansas's experience is relevant:
  • Implementation and Disenrollment: Arkansas implemented work requirements for Medicaid recipients in 2018. This included a requirement to report work hours. Within seven months, roughly 18,000 people were disenrolled from Medicaid.
  • Problematic Implementation: The implementation of these work requirements was plagued by administrative issues. These included:
    • Confusing Requirements: Available data suggested that the requirements were confusing to enrollees.
    • Coverage Losses: The requirements resulted in substantial coverage losses, even among individuals who should have qualified for exemptions. In fact, a study found that over 95% of those who lost coverage were either meeting the requirement or should have been exempt, indicating disenrollment was not due to ineligibility.
    • Technological Difficulties: The website used to document work hours was not designed for smartphones and was frequently unavailable for maintenance.
    • Paperwork Challenges: People struggled to navigate the reporting process, including missing deadlines or not receiving necessary paperwork.
  • Judicial Intervention: A federal judge eventually blocked the Arkansas work requirement program.
  • In summary, Arkansas's experience with Medicaid work reporting requirements demonstrated the potential for such policies to create confusion, lead to coverage losses due to administrative hurdles, and ultimately be deemed problematic."

While your "able-bodied adults" sounds like a good group to target for this legislation, I don't think you'll find much "waste, fraud and abuse" among those that could be described this way. Maybe get out in your community a bit more!?

It's a shell game the States play to game the system. For every dollar the state spends on Medicaid the Feds reimburse dollars based on some formula. In the state I'm in it's a 3:1 reimbursement, 3 federal dollars for every dollar the state spends. The way the game is played here the state taxes the doctors and hospitals and then remits the money back to them in the form of medicaid payments which inflates the federal contribution. Virtually all of the states are playing some form of that game.

Further the dems are crying cuts when the reality is that medicaid spending will actually increase by 2.7%

If the CBO prediction is in the ballpark, the reforms are good for the country.
They aren't. The bill and this administration makeclear that our priorities are to fuck over science, immigrants and healthcare to benefit rich people.

And we will suffer as a country as a result.
