Beef Wellington with Death Cap mushrooms

it does seem a little pre-loaded-guilty-as-charged given who died, who almost died, and who didn't get ill (it doesn't mention her eating any of the meal though I don't know if that was the case. Of course, she could be a vegetarian and stupid enough to make that enormous mistake. I guess the jurors will know more about this case than we do.

Erin Patterson sounds like a perfect candidate for a hanging.

But this is in Australia so I'd expect she spends less than ten years in prison before getting released to a nice book deal.

In her testimony, she said she did eat the mushrooms, and then threw up after eating too much for dessert. (Everything about this case has been front page news for weeks over here.)

Seems like there is enough crazy natural shit that can kill you in Australia that you don't need to poison anyone.

We can plead not guilty because the particular mushrooms only grow on oak trees which were imported (not native) to Australia.

She did eat the meal, but the survivor and one of those who died later, noticed that she served her own food separately, on a different coloured plate. If she gets off I suspect that she will be eating alone in future.
