WASHINGTON: The White House said Monday (Jun 30) that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney had "caved" to President Donald Trump, after Canada dropped a tax on US tech firms that prompted Trump to call off trade talks.

"It's very simple. Prime Minister Carney and Canada caved to President Trump and the United States of America," Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a daily briefing.

Leavitt said Trump "knows how to negotiate," adding that "every country on the planet needs to have good trade relationships with the United States."

Words like that won’t be forgotten.

The other one that Trump is going to win is supply management in dairy and eggs in particular.

The current quota system protects mostly “big canadian dairy/poultry”, mostly in Quebec and Ontario.

Canadian supply mgmt has worked SO well that a handful of companies have glommed up all the small to mid sized regional players

So it’s time to open er up. Milk is expensive in Canada. Greed.

Problem is American products are full of chems and hormones … and Quebec is going to have a fit.

The dear leader language this administration uses is just beyond the pale.

Well, it actually more accurately reflects what a shitty country you live in.

At least he’s real about it.

Whereas you post with a mouth full of cum and deny it.

Such wit! Your mom must be over again

As I've said before; we eat/drink the same food we ship overseas that the rest of the world refuses to believe is even edible.

And yet the US is strong, disease free for the most part, and has an indomitable spirit.

I'm thinking that it's not our food that foreign people don't like. It's that they enjoy living in their stinking pig styes and change makes them uncomfortable. Even if the change is for the better.

Wakey wakey!

Fattest people in the world, life expectancy decreasing.

Lol

With all that going for it, most citizens in the US have it easy. The result is a slightly higher obesity rate.

Covid has resulted in the mortality rates being skewed. Until those tables are adjusted for it, the numbers will seem to be dropping. The reality of actual life expectancy is very different.

Way to eat your words, Canada. Why do you play right into trumps hand. Backing down is the best you can do ? It would have been better of not to have brought it up. Is everyone in Canada as stupid as Americans?

Hey legal beagle;

What determines whether a sentence is consecutive or concurrent? Asking for a friend.

Apparently it was no big deal for Carney to give up the Digital Service Tax, because there is likely going to be a global standard tax in the near future.

https://www.pwc.com/us/en/services/tax/library/digital-service-taxes.html

😑

And apparently Carney used the threat of the basically redundant Digital Service Tax to get the MAGAt republicans to strip the “Revenge Tax” provision out of The One Butt Ugly bill.

😑

The optics aren’t great for Carney, but, as per usual, DonOld & the MAGAts got played.

😑

We. Told. Them. So.

MAGATs got played but it wasn't by Carney or the digital service tax, more like by the senate parliamentarian.

Hey legal beagle;

What determines whether a sentence is consecutive or concurrent? Asking for a friend.

It's generally up to the judge, who usually follows the recommendation of the probation report, but for general principles, if the offenses are connected in some way they're usually served concurrently.

For example; a DUI and a traffic accident would be served concurrently because they're connected. The sentence will be based on the offense with the longest term of incarceration.

A serial killer's sentences will all be consecutive because each is an individual crime unconnected to the others.

A: the judge decides whether to stack charges or lay them end to end as part of the sentencing decision based on factors like the details of the offences, whether they were individual acts or a continuing act, general deterence on others and specific deterence on the offender along with the defendents history.

Thank you chatbot.

You might find this report interesting. It compares health care in 10 countries:
https://www.commonwealthfund.org/publications/fund-reports/2024/sep/mirror-mirror-2024

  • Key Findings: The top three countries are Australia, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, although differences in overall performance between most countries are relatively small. The only clear outlier is the U.S., where health system performance is dramatically lower.
  • Conclusion: The U.S. continues to be in a class by itself in the underperformance of its health care sector. While the other nine countries differ in the details of their systems and in their performance on domains, unlike the U.S., they all have found a way to meet their residents’ most basic health care needs, including universal coverage.

🙄

Scott Bessent asked that the “Revenge tax” provision be removed from “The One Butt Ugly Bill” - and the MAGAts in congress accommodated him.

😑

Hope that ^ helps.

The US does not have the best healthcare.

Yes, yes, that's why when UK, Netherlands, and Aussies need top tier healthcare they come to the US. Because their healthcare system is "superior" to ours.

Do you have any kind of cite from a 3rd party that would back up you claims?

Do they? You might want to check sources outside of the MAGA echo chamber.

That would be me.

He’s right. The top gear stuff’s all in the USA.

If you have the cake.

Regular folk get shitty care in the USA.

People like you could never afford anything top shelf.
