LGBTQIA+ Daily Vibe II

I'm a Boy! 1966
Well who'd've believed The Who?

That's great. I've never heard that before, but I'm not surprised. A lot of rock groups in that era were pushing the limits hard. And as long as the lyrics weren't too explicit (or in the case of groups like Blue Cheer, were hidden behind loud guitar distortion) the record companies let them get away with it.

Just this morning, I was thinking about Donavon's “Try for the Sun” (also 1966, in the US — earlier in the UK I think). What a brave song it was! Nothing even remotely sexy in the words— but there was no question in our minds then (and none in mine, still, now) that his relationship with “the Gypsy boy” was more than just boyhood pals. The song was about boy/boy romance— in its way, at that time, an even more forbidden topic than “just sex”.

(Ironically, the one thing that “excused” it, in the eyes of any of the Powers That Be that might have been watching closely, was their young age (“Oh, just a stage. They'll grow out of it.”) And today, their age would be the first thing that would get it banned.)

Lou Reed, Walk on the Wild Side... My Mum tells me that was heard with a shrug. I see it's dated 1972 which I think was the start of glam rock, David Bowie etc.

Oh yes
Listening to Lewis Capaldi
Wearing T and shorts ( without underwear, not that's any of your business but it's very warm here )
Mood: I need to write... determined

Lou Reed. Such a totally interesting person involved in music. His name has surfaced not a few times as I read up on LGBTQ+ history in that 60's-70's (and beyond) time period.
A few of his songs like 'Walk on the Wild Side & Halloween Parade invoke rl queers mostly from the NYC scene.

Listening to: Romeo Void, Never Say Never
Wearing: shorts, & very light top. It's gonna be hot here today! Forecast even possible thunderstorm!
Mood: happy girl :rose:

So much to do, so little time for entertainment.
Sigh....so true! Coming up in an a couple of hours is this town's Midnight Sun parade. Happy summer solstice to all us northern hemisphere types.
A handful of us that are "on the spectrum" will wear our regalia, hand out rainbow stuff in this parade. It kinda feels like outing myself doing a public presentation....it'll be fun tho ⚡✨

Photos please!! Does the sun not set up there. I don't suppose it does - how very amazing.

Went for a long cycle earlier in 30c, which was not a good idea. Now trying to get enough liquid in without drowning! Such a stupid idea, but it just sorta happened and we forgot how non-shady our route would be.

The sun does set where I'm at...at about 2am, and rises around 4am. so no darkness now. It changes pretty fast tho, and tomorrow I think we start losing sun time.
Ha! maybe I'll try for a group pic!
We went to NW Scotland years ago and it was still kinda twilight at 10.30pm which was 'maze

It's near 40 c here. And humid. Yuck, flipping Kentucky. My air-conditioning can't keep up. Making my way to work, its construction season, so slow going. Pulled a bunch of overtime this week as I desperately need a new car, my poor Toyota is slowly giving up, and we have zero public transport, which sucks. I want something fun to replace it with like a Porsche or Corvette. I accepted a promotion at work, something akin to middle management with a whopping 0,50 an hour raise and my own department. Hahaha, the things I put up with. I don't think I have much else to add, a co-worker is trying to set me up with her brother, but he lives in the Phillipines. I must have cold weather, not hot and humid. That's about all I got for now, thr copious amounts of caffeine are doing the trick!

Mood: Sticky
Wearing: linen Capri's and a t shirt
Listening to: Poncho Sanchez - Bésame Mama

Not yet. I've been watching Clean Slate on Amazon. I see Laverne, I watch ☺️ Otto has been on my "watchlist" for way to long. So much to do, so little time for entertainment.
I went to watch on Apple tv but they kept pushing a monthly special offer at me so I'll wait. I hate those offers - so cynical and we don't pay for anything other the the UK tv licence, but we're talking about cancelling that ( and facing the govt inquisition who keep checking up and not believing you ). Did get nicked once in a student house... Uuum! Criminal record!!

It's sensible UK temps so

Wearing: bf's big shirt and shorts
Listening to: tinnitus
Mood: Work tomorrow, but also bin day

Yesterday was so much fun! Weather was kick ass, spent time with friends, good food....maybe a little too much to drink....
So here is a view of the afternoon polar bear swim. Such breathtakingly COLD water, but there was a huge bonfire to snuggle up to along with hot drinks an barbecue.
I'm editing this to try an drop a pic of our lovely group of queers & allies from the Midnight Sun parade that happened. Sadly some of my friends chose to not be involved this time so they are missing from my pic!

I’m fluid and often dress androgynously, but yesterday I went out to play music with some friends wearing my favorite dress and a touch of makeup. I don’t pass as cis female but it’s fascinating how an element of performance makes self expression so much easier in broad social situations. We’re going to a festival next weekend, staying in a backstage glamping tent and I’m going to be playing with some late night off-stage groups. I’m going to leave he/him at home. 😊

So my vibe is low key ecstatic while running through song lists, learning a bunch of new material in between busy work days.

Music festivals are so great! I hope you have lots of fun specially living your androgynous self! I def know how liberating it is to be one's honest self ✨

This past weekend is known as Midnight Sun out here where I live, and after Saturday's festivities there was a raft race on a local river.
A cloudy but still mildly warm day was fun out in the country! Lots of parties up and down river happened!
I wasn't on a raft this year, but I have been in the past still tho I ended the day pretty wet 💦

Listening to: M83 – Oceans Niagara
Wearing: shorts an t
Mood: lovely, as I have a morning green tea!

"Bored, rich bully" ... now who do you think that refers to?

Here's YT link to Lorraine's tv show where she interviews Boy George. The bit relevant to trans runs 4:00 to 6:00.
Here's a bit more of the spat in the London paper

Didn't manage a walk today - too humid this evening and the bathroom is out of action until tmrw morning ( think varnish... )

Our first lot of sugar snaps have gone over and now the pods have become a bit leathery in the heat. They'll still get eaten though.

Mood: chilled but not showered
Listening to: the white noise of car passing
Wearing: shorts and a t

So do you mean sugar snap peas? I love them! almost like candy! Gardening would be fun I think.

Anyways....this past couple of days has been rough! Got my first ever round of covid. And in the best part of summer! ARRGGG....
This really sucks! So going to go lie down again, see y'all

Listening to: The Sunday's Summertime
Mood: exhausted, uncomfortable, blaaaa
Wearing: pullover sackcloth, no ashes.....

Back to old pop songs:

Happy ever after in the market place...
Molly lets the children lend a hand...
Desmond stays at home and does his pretty face...
And in the evening she's a singer with the band...

Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!...
Lala how the life goes on...

🥰

Making the slog back home after a busy dirty week working out of town. Excited about getting to the festival this weekend! No phones ‘til Monday!

Oh no! You must have the polar bear version. I hope it doesn’t interfere with your plans. It hits people differently and so sorry to hear you feel crap 💐xx

Thank you for the well wishes.
Maybe my little dip in the bering sea is how I got this!
I was gonna go up into the mountains with a friend this coming Monday, but for everything I've heard about COVID I may still be laid out....

If you haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend the movies, but I would highly recommend most anything from Tom Hanks.
I went looking for this on Netflix and Max but no luck. Maybe that's just a regional thing tho?
