Of course I have no insider info…just a hunch…and, no, nobody’s even attempted to answered the question.

First, why would the COPD go against almost 40 yrs of tradition and do a presumptive nominee debate in June? They’ve never done that. June-Aug traditionally has the least amount of eyes on the TeeVee’s across the Fruited Plain. Wouldn’t they want to have as MANY peepers watching this?

Second, our Legacy Liberal Media (LLM), in the preceding months leading up to this “debate”, flooded the zone with gaslit reporting of how “sharp as a tack” Ol’ Pudd’n Head was. Then the day after, some even the night of, turned on poor Pudd’n like a pack of jackals.

So, yes, anecdotal to be sure, but nobody has given me pause to think otherwise.

Biden at least tried to answer the questions, albeit not always very well, and at least give relevant answers to what was asked.

Trump's answer to everything was "We need to seal the border! Down with Immigrants! Kick em out! Immigrants = BAD! Fix the border!" That would have been fine, if each and every question was about the border. The problem is, when asked about health care, the economy, social security, taxes, the environment, foreign policy, maternal leave, etc. HE GAVE THIS SAME ANSWER! Just angry ranting about the border, as if that would solve each and every one of the issues.

So, as laughable as Biden's debate performance was- he clearly was never much of a public speaker, especially that night- I nonetheless still thought he outperformed Trump on that metric at least.

There was nothing irregular about Harris' nomination. If Biden, having won the primaries, had simply died, no one would have suggested a second round of primaries was necessary. What actually happened was different in no way that matters. It was no "soft coup." Biden was not obliged to stay in the race, and the Dems were obliged to nominate a candidate.
