Hammered – an Ode to Mickey Spillane” - the 2025 Story Event Official Support Thread

I can do all of that except the violence. ☹️ I haven't been as active on Literotica lately and thought this could be something I could use to jump back in. Oh well...
Oh don't worry about the violence - it's that noir feel that's important so just go for it

Freya - so skip the violence.
I had to Google noir. I'm pretty sure this is WAY out of my narrow comfort zone. But you know what? Screw it. I wouldn't be me if I stayed in my lane. I have five weeks to figure out what noir is, how to write a sexy violent crime story, and still make it cute and sweet. All of that may be impossible (violent AND sweet?), but... I have an idea... That's right up there with "Hey, Earl, watch this," as famous last words.

I still feel bad about the celebrity story I wrote. I’m never using real people again.

I’m going to try to delete that story as soon as I’m done with the Survivor contest, which is the only reason I wrote it in the first place.

The Spillane book I’m reading has a dirty nuke as a plot point. Last week I might have considered including one in my story, but now I don’t think it would be as funny.

Like Chloe says, it’s about mostly about the setting and the particular style of prose. Last year, my entry had no explicitly violent scenes, just a murder investigation (the body was intact upon discovery, so no bloody gore either).

I had this crazy plot idea for this event. Spent a day mulling over it until I realized I was just thinking about movie Basic Instinct.
I am not sure what will be the final product but I am inclined to tell a story from a Femme Fatales perspective as she outsmarts and may be outmans others.

Which I know nothing about other than the setting should be dark and urban and the style of prose should be simple and direct. This information was gleaned through a 30-second internet search and reading some comments on this thread. Like knowing gracias, si, and taco doesn't make me bilingual, I feel that my knowledge of the Mickey Spillane world is woefully inadequate. But I'm going to write something anyway. The worst that happens is I get 1-bombed. And I don't care. The best thing that happens is I write another story. So stay tuned as I blindly blunder into something that I have absolutely no business being involved in!

I just hope there's a few people writimg for this one...

Hammerimg away at my "The Great-Granddaughter of Fu Manchu"

You can do it. You don't need to go over the top with violence, and you can keep it sexy.

Here's mine, from the first year (I keep missing the deadlines for the sequel):

When It's Safe to Die

My entry for this event probably isn't going to be ready this year but I'm going to keep working on it and hope to have the bugs ironed out by next year. Best wishes to those who still have a chance to make it!

This is the only contest on the horizon I feel like is anywhere close to my interests, so I want to do it. But I'm not ready to put down my current project, which is, let's face it, just going to end up being a novel.

Maybe, if I can get this draft done relatively soon, I can bang out something relatively short for this. I hope so. Otherwise, next year it is, I suppose.

I don’t think my story is nearly dark enough to qualify as noir, but I’ll be submitting it anyway.

TheRedLantern says it reads more like a romance and there will be a happy ending.
