Everybody seems to think this is the time for regime change in Iran. But is there any actual movement to overthrow the theocracy?

nope. America and the amoral Israel governments talk about "taking out the Ayatollah and bringing regime change", failing to recognize that there will always be some minor Ayatollah with delusions of grandeur just waiting for the top guy to fall.

I doubt the IDF has enough troops to enforce a nationwide embargo of goods in and out of Iran, and if they cannot convince their buddy Trump to get American troops to slowly strangle the Iranian populace (the way that Israel did in Gaza) the only solution I can see is for Israel to convince Trump of the glory of sending American troops into Teheran.

(I'm quite sure Israel is more than willing to assist with "mop up duty", i.e. bayonetting the sick, the elderly and the very young residents of Iran, the IDF got a great deal of expertise in efficient extermination in Gaza).

Prince Reza does head a movement to restore the monarchy -- but how many Iranians remember it fondly?

The Peacock Throne fell 46 years ago.

I doubt more that 30% of all Iranians recall the regime of the Shah. Those that do, likely remember the wretched excesses of the Shah's secret police "SAVAK" (America's ICE secret police likely uses SAVAK extrajudicial activities as a blueprint).

Seems to me this war will only strengthen public support for the government. Rally-round-the-flag effect.

Modern Iranians are more familiar with the Basij, the armed paramilitaries used to suppress dissent.

The Shah was overthrown by a coalition of several forces, including Communists. It was only a matter of chance that the mullahs came out on top.

Even the RWs should agree, this is one episode in history where it would have been better if the Communists had won.
