The Nail Thread

It is a good color for me, a good shade of pink. I just went through another stash of nail polishes and I have a very similar color still left. It’s a satin finish, and I’m not entirely sure what that even means, probably “not shiny”, weirdly. I have no recollection of using the color, even though I have clearly used it before. So it’ll be another pink adventure for me in the future!

I ruined the pink nails on my right hand on Friday because I got my finger stuck between the slats of a bench and when I pulled it out, the nail polish largely peeled off. Jesus, what kind of an adult even gets their fingers stuck in benches… I’ve told before that I’m an ungraceful mess, right? Yeah. I’m on the bench-stuck-getting level of ungracefulness.

So anyway, here’s the blue. I think there’s one more round left in the bottle, maybe two.

This is my very favorite shade of blue.

I like it too as a color and I think it generally suits me pretty well. Blue nails still make me feel uncomfortable, though, like people are staring. It’s good to step outside the comfort zone at times.

Nice!
Thanks for the inspiration too... now I've got to go nail polish shopping for my Goddess Wife when I get home...
I'll be "color coordinating" for Her eyes, corsets and some other items!

That sounds fun! It can be so difficult to find the right shades though. ☺️

I'm looking forward to it immensely!
Matching the shades will add to the fun for me, as I'm wired "strangely" in a way that the failures make the successes even sweeter.
Her green eyes already "pop" so matching Her attire will be the challenge.

Not sure how I feel about this color, which is probably why I haven’t used it very much in past. Pale shimmery pink.

Essence Frosted Kiss (discontinued years ago).

Toes are currently almost blindingly sparkly gold, courtesy of my sister in law. They don’t go with my fingers one bit, and the gold color isn’t something I’d normally ever choose for myself. But here we are…

I’ll have to repaint my fingers if the sandal weather continues.

I wanted to give this new polish a go, so I tested it on top of the color above before removing.

I do like it a lot, but it’s not the right color right now. Seize the Crown from Essie’s Snow White collection.

Okay, so… Pretty much the only person who ever says something about my nails is my friend’s husband. He always notices the color and usually says something nice. This has gone for years and I genuinely enjoy it, because it’s the only positive comment I get about any aspect of how I look.

Then, once, maybe two years ago, he gave me a set of three nail polishes that he had gotten from work somehow (or so he told me) and because his wife doesn’t wear nail polish, he gave them to me. For the next few times we met after he gave them to me, he asked if I had tried them out. I hadn’t. When I finally wore one of the colors he had given me, he immediately noticed that it was one of those and made sure to mention how happy it made him to see his gift being used. The same has happened every time since when I’ve worn one of the colors he gave me.

I spent the day at my friend’s house on Monday, and when I left, the husband walked me to the train because he was going to the grocery next to the station anyway. As we walked, he said that my nails looked “really nice when they’re long and dark, deliciously dangerous”.

Then, yesterday, he messaged me that if I’m home, he could swing by after work and bring me some more nail polish he had somehow gotten from work. He works in IT. Why the fuck would he get nail polish from work more than once in his life? I wasn’t home so I don’t know what colors he had gotten this time.

This is a little weird, right? Or am I reading too much into this?

I may be the wrong person to ask, but it does seem a little...odd...if nothing else.

Nail polish is a personal gift...almost like perfume. There's something else going on, here.

Yeah, it feels a little odd indeed. Thanks for the confirmation that it’s not all in my head.

FWIW, he gave the first set of nail polish to me with her wife in the same room. There was nothing secretive about it then, and there hasn’t been anything secretive or uncomfortable about his comments about my nails before. But now he made the “deliciously dangerous” comment when it was just the two of us, and then he all of a sudden has more nail polish he wants to give me…

I hate it when things get complicated. 😔
