The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Great day today in my happy place. Six trout to the net and kept three for smoking. Just so relaxing and worth the eighty mile drive to get in these hills. That one was returned and best of the day but I had killed my limit.

Actually, there's a fairly good age gap between me and my oldest brother.
One of my first childhood memories is one of his friends, swinging me around by the arms in circles. He thought I was screaming with excitement, but I was screaming in pain, as both shoulders were out of socket.... I've always thought that might have something to do with my "special skill." 🤣
Definitely sounds like a connective tissue thing.

Quick catch up on this Friday Eve...
I can too, but I have ehlers danlos and we aren’t really supposed to do party tricks.
I used to get my backpack off by subluxing my shoulders!
ED is no joke! 🫂
Before my meds were upped my parlor trick was dermatographia. Cool? Yeah - until you're walking around with stuff for hours because it just. won't. fade. 😂
Thanks for all of your knowledge sharing... some of it reminds me of hernia surgery... I've had two bilateral and one single.
Procedures involving the abdomen (aka The Core) can really have an impact. I recall a minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure in my 20s... I was fine except for sitting/standing. It hurt to engage my core to do those two things. Faded after a few days. But breathtaking the first couple.

Yikes! Sounds very painful. Ever been screened for Ehlers Danlos yourself??
I think our crew dodged a bullet there... lots of "helicopter rides" over the years, but no socket injuries.
Oddly enough, 25 years on these boats and the best, freshest produce I've eaten was when I worked in the arctic circle out of Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
Hmm, Dutch Harbor, Alaska you say?? Wonder what their summer temps are like compared to here where we have Excessive Heat Warnings until late Sunday night.😏
I want to thank each and every one of you for the well wishes, love, and wisdom you've extended to me while my mom and wife were both dealing with health issues and I'm stuck offshore.
It means more than you know to me!!!
As others have said, it's what we do... support fellow spoonies. 🥄
Plus, we all know it's hard enough when you're there in-person and can at least do mindless, helpful tasks like clean out mom's gutters or raid the fridge for expired condiments but when you're not local? It makes it so much more difficult - even with great sibling support. 🫂
Thanks Grey.... it is the wind.... scares the bejeezus out of me....

That and my bedroom and kitchen are in west side of house and when the winds come it hits my house like a freight train
High winds tend to come in at just the right angle to hammer my bedroom. There have been a couple times the windows shook so hard, I thought they might break. Twice I slept on the floor of my bedroom closet - just in case. :ROFLMAO: 🌬️
Good morning. I’m ok with the storms but there were a couple of tornados north and east of me. The storms were severe. I lost power sometime last night after 2 as AC went out. But around 5 it was back.

What a night. So many people texting.

I am supposed to drive to see my sister but who know about the damage between here and there. Also I feel sleepy.
Yikes - glad you're okay. Hope you get a chance to nap today. 🫂
I saw people referring to it but must have missed it upstream. Glad she’s doing well in recovery! Also good to hear the wife doing well! Momma’s in good spirits so I’m thinking she’ll ace this!

Was heading out west today but rerouted down to Nawl’ns. Get some gumbo while I’m there I guess. What was the meme…It’s Friday eve? 😂. Everyone have a great day!

🤗 for continued improvement every day!
Being from the Midwest, I'm familiar with Maple Trees and Japanese Maple Trees... but never have I ever see one this size until now. Just... wow 🤯🥰
Truth.
My back doc: “ dude, you’re not 20 anymore…”
Ya must have same doc
My doctor went to med school with your and @Tweedledude's doctor? Small world!! :ROFLMAO:
My dear old cat was in the barn (her outside hangout spot) when lightning struck directly across the road and lit the field on fire.... That event turned her into a meteorologist.
From then on, she was my early warning system... she'd sense a storm coming, alert me, then crawl under the couch until it was completely over.
🥰🥰 Amazing kitty!! Mine always hid in the bathtub or closet... I knew to get ready to hunker down when they disappeared.... either that or it was Vacuuming Day 😂

A little slice of heaven here on earth. Gorgeous pictures, @Greylag 🥰🥰

i just came up with a great business Idea...and you all can get in on the ground floor...Here it is. "Strappers Porcupine petting zoo" we'll have free admission but charge a dollar for every bandaid. if you want to help just send any spare porcupines you have to me.
No porcupines here... but this poor, little guy sure found at least one... 😥

My daughter had a pet hedgehog.

Does that count??

I’m a catch a releaser. But ya gotta catch em first. 😂

Goin to lake wallanpawpac (sp) for a three day weekend. Should be interesting. Fishing. Hiking, chilling. Drinking.

No, it’s not! My dermagraphia would fade in 20 mins and that how I’d “remember” verb ending for French class.

I still can’t do the lower part of undulations which I could do before.

Here as well, unless you’re here in Minnesota too!
As others have said, it's what we do... support fellow spoonies. 🥄

No storm cellar or basement?

Wait! does everyone here have Eds and dermagraphia or is it just us?

Awesome!! Mine didn't kick off enough for that until after college... could have really used it in high school though.
No storm cellar or basement?
Condo - no cellar or basement. I have 2 bathrooms w/o windows and one closet. The 1 bathroom is too small to be comfortable for a long stretch. The other works better. Also, for anyone interested, it takes a minimum of 3 votive candles for reading a book. :geek: 📖 :ROFLMAO: Luckily, I've only needed to utilize such measures a handful of times in the last 20 years here. 🤞

Dutch Harbor, Alaska
(Unalaska is the name of the city on the harbor)

Oh their weather is just about perfect for me.
Too bad I can't even imagine affording the cost of living increase compared to where I live now. 😭

my grandad lost his eye in a sawmill accident..he had a glass eye for a while, but he use to go to the bar and get drunk and take it out and roll it back and forth across the bar. his socket got infected so they justr ended up sewing it shut after they cleaned it out.
