The US has the bombers and the bombs. Provide them to Israel or use our personnel to get it done. The latter technically makes the US a combat participant, but flying in for a quick mission isn’t like sending troops on the ground indefinitely.

Agreed. He would be keeping the words of past presidents as well as his own. They have been threatening the lives of Americans for 50-odd years.

He didn't explicitly claim ownership, he described being aware and supported Israel actions while keeping a comfortable distance from direct involvement. Far cry from claiming ownership. You need to control your TDS.

How does the word "we: show American ownership? Are we helping the effort? Yes. Are we a party to the issue in Iran? Yes. We probably do own the air space over Iran right now. Only because we have partnered with Israel and have no doubt provided them with persistent overhead surveillance of all electronic transmissions emanating from Iran and the targeting coordinates of every radar emission in the country. When we get involved in delivering kinetic attacks on ground targets with American aircraft, we will still only have partial ownership of the situation.

They were sent to the region, probably in preparation for our involvement. Israel has its own tanker aircraft.

The President said he would bomb Iran if they persisted in building nuclear weapons and enriching uranium, as had four other Presidents.

He gave them 60 days to comply. They didn’t. On day 61, the bombs fell. Now that deeper, more fortified targets likely need to be struck, I suspect that task will fall squarely to our Air Force. Just a thought, but I can’t imagine any other development urgent enough to pull Trump away from the G7 for a high-level meeting with the National Security Council in the Situation Room.
