Amazing! It does sound lovely. I'm reading some Lorca at the moment, and he paints a very vivid picture. Would love to experience it.

Totally get that 😍 Spanish is at least a satisfying language to learn, I struggled with German, loved French! ( I know we have German speakers here, sorryyyy, it just sounds too guttural 🥺 )
Spanish does have a lot of crossover with English, especially with all its Latin-based words. What’s funny is that Spanish has way more words that look like English because of shared Latin roots, but English hasn’t borrowed nearly as much back. So you get these little “aha” moments, but not always the other way around!

I know about 200 words in German. Its yeah...very foreign sounding? That said, it is the basis for so much English so...
 
Ach, so schlimm ist das gar nicht. Du musst die Wörter nur nicht wie Befehle rausschreien. 😉

But yes, i like Italien more for the melody.

Without its Germanic routes, as English speakers we literally wouldn’t have everyday structure and core vocabulary. Without French and Latin we would also have veryyy minimal formal, academic and abstract vocabulary. It’s just more evidence that English has built itself by borrowing from everyone but its own roots. 🤣🤭 Cough.

If you try one of your poems in Thai, you can be a butcher twice and possibly get a bit of meat delivered around the back 🥳

In Spanish, that same verb changes depending on who’s speaking, when, and sometimes even how it’s being said. You have to learn way way way more endings. Also, English has a pretty fixed word order:
subject.
verb.
object.
Whilst languages like Spanish can move words around more because the grammar is built into the word endings. So you’re not just learning vocab, you’re learning a whole new system! Kudos to you my friend, it’s no easy feat!

She leans over the desk, elbows pressing together just enough to draw the eye downward, her button-up shirt parting slightly with the motion.

“Don’t even get me started on agglutinative languages like Turkish, for example, where entire sentences are packed into one word… that would be a pain to learn. And let’s not forget tonal languages such as Mandarin in which the word “ma” can mean entirely different things, all depending ones tone.”

She tilts her head, gaze locked on his.

“Take Hungarian,” she murmurs. “Again, agglutinative, like Turkish. You start with something simple, like nyal, which means ‘to lick’.”

With one fluid motion, she lifts her leg onto the table and spreads her thighs, she isn’t wearing any panties.

“Nyalogatnálak. Which means, I would keep licking you slowly. All in one word.”

She leans in slightly.

“But if you’d prefer… I can show you what it feels like when I do the licking.”
