I tried to learn a bit Italian during long travels in my car, but doesn't got far. I like the melody of the language, that's why. So I need to stick to English and a bit French. If someone like talking German, that's obvious possible as well.

I tried some French before on duolingo but those fucking apps always start off well and then they start with "The little boy rides the dolphin" or some inane shit that you would never say

You need the travellers version. How to ask for directions, order food, objects in a room, common verbs, pronouns, the please and thank you stuff...not fucking "the giraffe looks pretty in the sun". cuz WTF

Yeah, Duolingo is BAD for that!

I use it to brush up on things, but it pains me when I’m revisiting French and they want to teach me “The monkey is in the tree.”

I mean, WTAF? For a start, monkeys aren’t even native to France, so we’re starting with some super-random stuff here, and it seems to come way before some of that day to day stuff you actually need to know.

Growing up in a predominantly Italian neighborhood, and not being Italian myself, I can actually hear that accent when reading what you wrote
