I’m so old I remember…

Candy bars: milky Way, Snickers and three musketeers being $.10 plus one cent tax.

And they went to $.16. Charleston chew and Twix and wtachmacallmit came out.

And they went to $.22

Then 27.

The only candy bars I eat now are the little tiny ones at Halloween.

Old school music venues.

Capitol Theater in Passaic
Asbury Park convention center
CBGB Sunday hardcore matinees
Pipeline in Newark
City Gardens, Trenton
Dirt Club, Bloomfield
Pyramid Club NYC
Ritz NYC (I think it’s called something else now)
Irving Plaza (I think it’s still there and I think it’s still called that)
And a boatload of VFW’s, Polish American clubs, Italian American association etc that people would promote shows at, like the West Catasauqua playground in Lehigh Valley.

Those were the daze!

Usually five to $10 shows and 2 to 3 bands on the bill. None of this buying tickets online bullshit, you just showed up and paid.

I like punk rock. Back in the old days (80s), there were tons of compilation, albums, and tons of records that had all kinds of good inserts or foldout gate sleeves or even fanzines with info, pics and lyrics.

But on a good note, some labels still give you a shit ton for your money. This compilation album cost 20 bucks. A huge fold out and double splattered vinyl!

Punk’s not dead!
