Next time you're in Seattle, assuming your Sea visits are downtown, head to the International District. On the West side of the Uwajimaya building there's a home in the wall Ramen shop called Samurai Noodle. You won't be disappointed.

Also, next time you're up here, head to Everett, Mill Creek or Mukilteo and try Brooklyn Bros. Pizza. True NY style pizzas, named after the Boroughs.

My wife grew up in New Jersey and loves it.
Ill be in Seattle in Sept and in October (Dodgers game in Sept, Garbage concert in Oct)

I agree re Naples. I had pretty amazing pizza there. I thought we were confining comparisons to the US.

But yes absolutely, I have had mind blowing pizza in Rome, Florence, Naples and Venice - way better than NYC. Hard no on Chicago and Detroit style pizza.
There are a lot of brewpubs that tend to serve Detroit style pizzas which can be pretty tasty, but for me I only like pepperoni pizzas or similar for Detroit style.
For Chicago, my friend from there took me to Gino's East when I went to visit once and it was good, but its just not my style at all.

I am a New York native and do love the pizza, but the best pizza is in New Haven, Connecticut. If you haven't visited the Holy Triumvirate of Sally's. Pepe's and Modern, you haven't experienced the best. There was even a documentary made about these places, (Which, by the way, correctly refer to it as Apizza)
yes theres a place in Portland that the late great Anthony Bourdain visited on one of his show called Apizza Scholls.
I may have posted a pic of their pizza a while back.
Its the fucking bomb.

There’s a place here called The Pie. Really good pizza and they make some
Traditional and not so traditional.

Big fan of Lou Malnati's in Chicago, myself. Not just for the pizza. Their entire menu is great (and the desserts are amazing).

Here in the Cincinnati area, it's LaRosa's. You either really love it or hate it based on the sauce. The sauce is different than any others. There is also a great NY style place called Goodfellas in Northern KY (and in Lexington & Louisville as well). Love that one.

I didn't know Garbage still was around. They have some great songs. I wish I had time to go to a live concert, they're a blast! Haven't been to one since Ringo Starr visited Eureka, CA many years ago.

I see as much live music as I can...
Saw U2 at the Sphere in Dec 2023. They sounded less than stellar but it was easily the most epic concert I have ever attended.
Other shows recently include: Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Mitski, TV Girl, The National, The Young Dubliners, ummm...some more Im sure...RHCP a couple years back too uh...Cavetown...umm...

Sad thing is, I'm not picky when it comes to pizza. I'm a picky eater, but if you get me a basic pepperoni or combination, I'll love it. For me, you almost have to try hard to screw up a pizza in order for me to hate it. I'd probably drive all these pizza connoisseurs crazy because I could try them all and think each one was the best.
I rarely get pepperoni to be honest. I love it, but margherita for me is tough to beat. I also like sausage/onion/garlic/rosemary...but really...most anything...unless it has like 8, 10 toppings...it is just overkill and you cant taste anything. No thanks.

I love live music (all kinds) and REALLY want to hit a show at The Sphere. I've only seen the outside of it in person, but have seen plenty of videos from inside and it looks amazing. I got to see The Killers at their home show in Vegas for the Hot Fuss anniversary to start 2025. I caught 5 My Morning Jacket shows in Louisville for their hometown shows and will be hitting several other concerts over the course of the year (Dave Matthews Band shows that will put me at either 113 or 116 depending if I add The Gorge in Washington state.) Snoop Dogg, and probably a handful of others over the summer (Billy Joel cancelled his Cincinnati show or that would've been on the list)

Naples...its where margherita pizza was invented in something like 1890?! The Associazione Verace Pizza napoletana, AVPN is there...the international judges for best neapolitan pizza etc

Too bad I wasnt on Lit earlier...or knew you etc. Ive been to Cincy a few times in the last 5-ish years. I had some friends that went to Ohio State, and in Cincy I went to Taft's, Rheingeist, ummm...something like Little Miami? And some other place fuck...it had an interstate sign as its logo I think?
Tafts and Rhinegeist were great. Little Miami was just o-k. The other place I forget thae name of, was good too.
I dont tihnk I could live in Cincy, but I actually really enjoyed it.

I'd love to see Depeche Mode. They are another band I'm surprised is still around. They started in the 80s. Their style has changed a lot since then and they've managed to survive. It's impressive, many bands can't survive the genre changes. A great deal of 80s bands couldn't survive the 90s transition, same with 90s to 2000s.

U2 will always be a great band, even if they are losing some umph in their old age...

Depeche Mode is probably in my top 5 fave bands. They sounded better than U2 to be fair, but obviously the show was not in the same league. Still a great show.
Nothing
and
Never Let Me Down Again
are prob my two faves from them

For those who want to experience it in a tiny way, U2 at the Sphere...three songs, each a minute or less...absolutely mind-melting experience (and yes I have many more, but I dont want to inundate ya)

U2: The Fly https://vlix.io/video/f91f4be73f4857552d70/
U2: Even Better then the Real Thing https://vlix.io/video/914fad5373bb68930043/
U2: With or Without You (last song) https://vlix.io/video/e0bbf3b044306c5be94a/

easily in my top 5 best moments of my entire life
fyi, I actually fucking CRIED during With or Without You. Just raised the hair on my head, arms, I got super emotional. and yes ok the song is designed for that but the moment, the video...I was just awestruck. ill never forget it. I get emotional watching that little video I posted. It was overwhelming in the best way possible.

The interstate logo one is 50 West. Awesome place. Love the other spots as well, especially the building for Taft. I'm trying to think about what little Miami could be. Cincy has some cool underground brewery tours as well. NKY is packed with stuff as well.

The burgers at 50 West are fantastic. It's a really cool set-up in general there with the sand volleyball courts, etc.

I honestly haven't been to Little Miami. I might have to check that one out this summer.
