Trump will be gone sooner. He's already barely functional now. If he doesn't flat out leave this world on his own account before his term is over, then at least at some point he will be forced out because it will have become all too obvious that he can't handle the job "anymore".

Sure, we (as in "we the poor world") then get horrible Vance, but 1) maybe Vance might even somewhat change tune if Trump is out (after all, he has already radically changed tune before w.r.t. Trump); and/but 2) as things are going now, Vance will be out latest in 2028 as well.

Nope. But the administration has drained funding from all universities. No researcher in their right mind would start a study in the US when they know the funding might be pulled tomorrow. And businesses are also seeking other countries for less risk

This administration has been the enemy of technology and development (and the economy) The leader rolls out of bed in a bad mood and takes action against someone he doesn't like.

Canada and China and other countries have rolled out the money and the welcome Matt.

Not unlike Trump's delusion that this poorly considered tariffs will magically result in cars rolling off American assembly lines the next week. :rolleyes:

News flash, sparky: Professional research isn't something you can pick up and move to a different country in one day, week or even month. It takes time and effort to re-establish a base in another country (or more likely, a different American university).

The fact that its way too early to identify specific projects is not the "win" you think it is.

Oh look. Another one who can’t identify any Harvard research projects that have shipped to Canada and China. At least you had sense enough to not make such an unsubstantiated claim. And nice job deflecting from Harvard to tariffs. lol.

Harvard's endowment is 50 billion-with-a-B dollars. Most of that is used to defer student tuition each year.

Petulant Trump has pulled 2.2 billion that was to have been spent over the next few years conducting research that the government wanted done. An addition 2.7 million-with-an-m was a grant from Homeland Security, pulled to help Kosplay Kristi Noem get her own government Learjet.

Also RFK Junkier's HHS had one billion-with-a-B dollars in research grants for medical research, which will instead be directed to firms that RFK has a financial interest in (primarily essential oils and healing stones).

It's not quite a "boatload", but it does show the lengths that assclowns like Trump (and by association, dull-witted numpties such as yourself) are willing to shoot yourself in the collective feet to "own teh libz".

Correct. The university is not starving and massive amounts of private and public money is continuing to spent on research.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that if one of BabyBoomer50s' children or grandchildren came down with (God forbid) some sort of rare form of cancer, he might not be so sanguine about Trump torpedoing cancer research in this country.
