Has anyone else drawn the ire of story critic Stacnash? 🤣

Someone who isn't engaging in good faith dialogue to advance a discussion but is trying to provoke and antagonize people to illicit an emotional response.

A giveaway of trolling is pretending one knows "truths" that nobody could possibly know -- such as what REALLY motivates you when you write or comment or respond to comments, rather than what you say motivates you. Trolls insulate themselves behind a wall of nonfalsifiability. They will claim you are wrong, but when you challenge their grounds for saying so they'll say they don't have to prove themselves, or go silent, or change the subject, or claim their grounds for knowledge are the product of some mysterious superiority in intellect or background (without, of course, offering any support for the claims to such superiority--one must take the troll at their word).

Another giveaway of trolling in this particular forum is an exaggerated pretense of writing standards that is not remotely demonstrated by the troll's writing output, if there is any.

The troll is the person criticizing your driving skills while throwing rocks at your car from the overpass.

Well said.
I'd add that another sure sign of a troll is that their criticism must be 100% accepted and is completely legitimate. Any disagreement with that can only be the result of some flaw in the target.
We couldn't possibly have any legitimate disagreement with their view, our opposition is only the result of our thin skin, fragile ego etc..

Another trollism? Gaslighting. For instance, this...
Every ā€œcontest-winning or leaderboard authorā€ I’ve encountered is driven by emptiness, loneliness, depression, and self-loathing. It only takes someone like Stacnash to prick the balloon of pretense and send them spiraling.
...is demonstrably untrue, just from things said in this very thread. Many of us have won contests or shown up on toplists and are perfectly fine with stacnash's critiques of our pieces. None of us, posting here in this very thread, is "spiralling" into "emptiness, loneliness, depression, and self-loathing." Rather, we're chuckling together over the overwrought statements of one commenter and, now, another troll poster. We're bonding. It's a nice thing.

And yet? The claim I just quoted will continue to be made and repeated until the troll thinks someone believes it.

Poor Plathfan.

I remember back when I posted a thread with a link to a radio interview I did about my erotic horror novels.

He gushed over my voice and how much he liked it, and the interview.

Then he removed his posts when he realized what he'd done.

His critiques of me and shots he takes are the same as when little boys throw things at little girls for attention because they like them.

It's okay, sweetie, you don't have to pretend, I know you're smitten.

But I am taken, so you're just going to have to get over it. :rose::heart::kiss:

Because the belief that they have some power, some ability to actually hurt others is central to their motivation to troll.

One of the pleasant things about the AH is that there is a critical mass of people who won't tolerate the trolling nonsense and will call it out. That deprives the troll of power. They take the silence of others as proof that they agree, or that they are afraid of being the trolls next target. When they are denied that, they don't have anything left.

Actually, I said it was a surprisingly soft, boyish voice with feminine mannerisms. A voice that confirmed something I had long suspected. That might explain why someone would start rumors about a female member being a man.

And I didn’t remove my posts. I deleted my account, something you didn’t understand the implications of until a few days ago.

As for the others who rushed in through an open door, when I mentioned some of Lit OGs I’ve been in touch with, I clearly wasn’t referring to you. I hardly read your posts.

Oh come on, do you thin that you're going to get less hits because someone listed you?

I've noticed no difference in traffic to the story Stacnash selected for their list nor to my story catalog in general.

That said, my story wound up on the Three Star List so maybe nobody is interested in reading an average story by a mediocre author šŸ˜†

I'm constantly amazed at how people think they can know so much about the inner lives of people on a board like this.

Come on, it's on the internet it must be true! Everyone is out here baring their souls to strangers and being their authentic true selves for the benefit of strangers.

On a board like this? Sigh. Reread the paragraph that came before. We're gonna part for a while.

Proverbs 26:4

AG31 how DARE you challenge the great and all seeing troll! They know EVERYTHING about all of us. We must meekly submit to their every pronouncement or they will say mean things about us on the internet which will destroy our lives!

LC68 is both on the 1 star list (called out by name on the header) and on the Disqualified list (interesting inconsistency that). Probably explains why no one reads his stories anymore.
Or something.
One star, disqualified, this really is a call back to my high school years

What did you do to get on the cheat/banned story list?

Maybe we can form a lit version of the breakfast club.

Watch out, he's resorting to quoting the bible.

Like everyone else, Stac claims I violated the TOS.
