The 2025 Geek Pride Story Event: Official Support Page

When do we get notified whether our story has been accepted?
May 25th when it appears on the website. There will be a Geek Pride page with your entries listed there. If it's not accepted, Laurel will send you a nastygram telling you why she's not going to publish it.

@ChloeTzang dear, for you I have submitted my largest ever single story... and it's only episode 2 (I went full retro with a serialized story ala Buck Rogers)

That doesn't give you any time to fix a story that's been rejected, am I reading that correctly?

When you submit it, it will be reviewed by Laurel which may take anything up to a few days if you submit it before May 24th (go live date is May 25th). After you submit, it will be in your pending stories - when it's approved, you will see a date under the story in you works folder for when it will go live. If its rejected you'll get a message.

And me, I'm still working on mine. For anyone that's working on a story and worried about the deadline - this is an "event", not a competition. If your story is a day or three late, that can be accommodated - just submit it anyhow with the required geek day text in the notes and message me privately or let me know here on this thread with the name of your story and I can ask Laurel to add it into the event as a late submission.

I just checked and saw my story is now scheduled for release on the 16th; I know I put the Geek Pride tag and notes in, so does this mean the stories *are* coming out like On-the-Job’s during the submission period after all? Or do I need to send a note to Laurel and clarify? 🤔

Actually they may start going live early. No worries tho, as long as it shows up on the event page - and I think that should go live on May 25th, but I've seen event pages start earler than the scheduled date. Guess we'll see

Did you use the full "2025 Literotica Geek Pride Story Event" phrase in the Notes to Admin section?

It's quite a bit longer than the intuitive one, "Geek Pride", as well as more involved than those from other events (e.g. "OnTheJob").
Perhaps failure to adhere to this mysteriously elaborate annotation scheme is what caused your premature publication?

ALSO forgot to say in my last post, a huge thanks 💐 to you, @ChloeTzang , for doing the work of organizing and hosting this challenge. It enabled me to explore a whole new way of storytelling that I wanted to try for a long time, but never put the time and effort into. You and @PennyThompson 💐 have helped me grow as a writer through this, and it was so much fun! 🤩

I see whatcha did there 😂

I did copy-paste the specified Geek Pride label into Notes AND wrote a sentence there, in addition to the general geek pride tag 🤷‍♀️ I hope it’s not just me …

Yep. Just about every one that I've hosted (Winter Holiday, 750 word, April Fools, Summer Fun) they always seem to come out early. Short stories seem to get published much quicker than Novellas or Novels.

The date under mine says May 15th. ;-)

I have finished writing mine. I'm now into the editing process. First pass discovered many mistakes and a few continuity errors. Hoping the next two passes don't require so much attention.
I like to use 'Read Aloud' in Word for editing. I can hear errors better than see them.

Forgot to post here that mine is now off as well.

On the other hand... OMG! It's been pending for six hours! Clearly I should start a new thread here to ask what to do, and definitely PM Laurel why it's been stuck for so long!

Same here. I wonder if WE got everything right and the others... 👀
Mine since Wednesday. Notably, I submitted a story earlier that day for the Convention event. That suddenly appeared yesterday morning, never having gone into published state while in pending like other stories have. My guess is that Laurel is setting the stories aside knowing the deadline is later. I trust she will get back to them before the event ends.

Probably. She always promises to release them at the same time. Maybe this go-round it might happen.

My Geek Day story got too big, over 20k words. Would anyone be willing to beta read it to help catch any glaring errors before I submit it?
If so, please send me your email address through the conversations link.
Thanks.
