The 2025 Geek Pride Story Event: Official Support Page

I’m 2k words in and thoroughly enjoying the ride so far - not sure if I’m geeking out more over supermassive black holes lying like dark seeds at the center of every galaxy (theoretically), or about Grace O’Malley the Irish Pirate Queen meeting with England’s Virgin Queen Elizabeth I (imagine, 2 powerful female monarchs in Britain simultaneously, yet they struck a deal instead of going to war… 🤔).

This is SO much fun 🤩

Hmmm this sounds truly yummy two powerful women! Let’s strike the deal and sit back and watch. On second thought, there is nothing wrong with joining in 😉😉

I've got two different stories competing for my attention, I'm hoping I can pull off both of them in time...

One is a 1990s period piece set in a Blockbuster Video, where a neurospicy dork tries to impress the goth girl working behind the counter and discovers they have some surprising things in common.

The other is a sort-of-sequel to my On The Job story, an introverted enby and their nerdy boyfriend try to fulfill a Princess Leia/Han Solo cosplay fantasy at the local comicon🤤

That sounds like a romp!
Thanks! I'm actually trying to decide between aliens in spaceships - which would be terribly geeky, particularly if the aliens are more goofy than menacing - and creatures from a fantasy world, which would probably give more opportunities for sex but wouldn't have the same level of silliness.

Either way, it would probably be posted in Humour & Satire.

I worry that the Humour category is where clever stories go to die 😕 I think you should just go for it in Sci-fi & Fantasy.

I haven't been penalized for making aliens both sexy and silly, I think the audience there is pretty open to humor in their smut 😍

SF&F feels like there's too much competition nowadays. I have stories in Reviews & Essays with more views than some of my newer SF&F works.

2. Any geeky subject, any category, any length you like. But please, only stand-alone stories (if you want to clarify that, just ask right here in this Official Support Thread).
What about a couple of chapters in the same “universe” but published only for this event?
My first chapter is definitely Transgender and I’m going to continue into (non Tg) Group Sex, and maybe end with Anal. I could make it one long story that hits all those categories, or I could split it up into multiple chapters. The first draft of what would be either the start of the longer story or the first chapter is 3500 words.

They have to stand alone.

They can most certainly be linked to a universe, and they can even be a prequel/sequel... but they should be structured in such a way that they can be enjoyed by people who've read nothing else in that universe.

Most of us, when using the term "chapter," aren't thinking of a standalone story.

I have finished my first pass, but there is a section I need to rewrite. This will be my first submission not for my current series, so I am excited about it. Thanks for this contest.

It should be a complete story, not an instalment or a chapter.

What I meant was a three chapter story all published for this event instead of one longer story with three separate parts. I can jam it all into one story, though.
Ohhhh I see what you mean. Yes, better to put them together in one story and don't worry about the length.

I am so looking forward to reading both of them!!! Loved your on-the-job characters 🥰

Currently just over 5K words into Pair of Queens, I have now become distracted by the urge to geek out about the Microverse, not just the Macroverse - slime molds and the mycelial network are fascinating participants in temperate forest ecology and I am super-confident that they too can be Sexy AF - there are not enough hours in the day :geek:

You know about the huge colony of fungus in Oregon, right?

I remember learning about a similar huge colonial organism in Canada when I was in grad school 30 years ago, but now I can’t find reference to it.

Have you seen the work on intelligence in slime mold?

It's fun having a thread for us geeks, btw.

Well, well, it looks like we're going to get two stories out of you this time!

Yes!!! First caught my attention awhile back, and led me down an incredibly satisfying rabbit hole that eventually even had me comparing the mycelial network to the human neural network - similarities of both structure and function are fascinating. It’s been showing up in my writing for years 😊

I have seen some of it, yes! I also fell in love with some of the photography that shows off their aesthetic qualities in spades; they’re some of the most fascinating and uniquely beautiful life forms on earth 🌍 💚

I'm in the final stretch of revising my story for this, a hall pass story that's gone up on the shelf and been brought back down like a dozen times over the last year. Frankly, I'm glad to finally have a deadline to get shed of the thing, even if I'm overall happy with the final product. It's been hanging over my head for way too long.

I'm plugging along on my first Geek Pride story, should have it done this weekend! But I'm struggling with story categories, and would be interested in opinions...

A non-binary nerd and their boyfriend try to fulfill a cosplay fantasy, end up doing some sexy Star Wars crossplay(dressing as a character of a different gender), having cosplay sex in front of a new friend, going to the local comic-con, getting a little overwhelmed by being a center of attention, learning to embrace embarrassment, and winning a contest🤣

I got a little carried away with the discription of the costuming, but the one person who has read that part so far says it's sexy and well paced... Would that amount of cosplay rise to the level of being a Fetish story?

Is wearing sexy but embarrassing costumes in public (plus having sex while a friend is in the room) enough to warrant the Exhibition and Voyeurism category?

Maybe even the Crossdressing side of Trans & Crossdressers? Though I hate the way that category lumps CD and trans together like they're the same thing or even closely related 🙄

Technically it could be Erotic Coupling since only two people have sex, but I think the whole situation is too silly for that category...

Help me Obi-Wan, you're my only hope!
