The woman (and maybe her husband) choose one or several donors. There's a catalogue of men to choose from. Intelligent, sporty, good looking etc etc.

In essence, that's exactly what my husband did when donating sperm to couples. He only donated to married couples (and a few single lesbians) and he used intercourse as the deliver method. IF my husband made me go through with this to get pregnant, I'd probably use birth control the first times. This is to make sure my husband can really handle me bedding other men, and to have a tiny bit of fun before getting knocked up. I'm sorry but I'd feel gipped if I got knocked up the very first time I got laid by a sperm doner. Give me a few goes to get into it and get my "fill." If we use more than one sperm donor on the same day, I wouldn't want the donor men to know about each other. Also, in this fictional story, I'd like not just professional sperm donors but some of the old-fashioned donors are friends, family (husband's brothers) and Ex boyfriends.

That's easy. The story ends when the wife gets pregnant.

I like this concept. I would set it up like this:
A couple is having a difficult time conceiving. After testing they find that the wife is fine, but the husband's sperm count is so low conception is unlikely. The doctor advised that IVF treatments could run as high as $30,000. They can't afford, so he proposes another solution. He is aware of a company providing high quality sperm the old fashioned way. They have a catalog of potential anonymous donors including doctors, attorneys, scientists, and even some retired professional athletes. All with clean health records and no undesirable genetic markers. Couples agree to a subscription costing $1000 per month. That gets them 1 visit each from 3 different men of their choosing, on the day of her ovulation, day before and day after. Subscription continues until she is pregnant. They can change men any time.
This story could be written from the perspective of the wife, the husband, or a donor. If a donor, can make it interesting by having him show up at the home of someone he knows personally -- maybe the donor is a lawyer and he is picked by a judge and his wife, or a doctor winds up at the home of a nurse from a hospital where he practices, or a university professor ends up at the home of a former (or current) student. The options here are endless.
