Weirdest / most interesting fact you've learnt recently

NASA made a symbolic gesture by broadcasting the Beatles, Across the Universe - across the universe! They pointed the song towards Polaris (the North star) and sent it out on Feb. 4th, 2008. It was to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the song's recording, the 45th anniversary of NASA's Deep Space network, and the 50th anniversary of NASA itself. There's still almost 400 years before the song reaches Polaris (Polaris is 431 light-years distant from Earth).

I do too, but I like the peanut BUTTER M&M's better, personally...
Don't have those here in Aus and I don't feel like I am missing anything.
Unrelated, when my some was little The Simpsons did a range of ads for Butterfingers. My autistic then 5 yr old became obsessed. At the time there was 3 shops in the city I live in that sold them. It took one visit to one of these stores to have my son knowing where it was. All it would take was driving even remotely near any of these stores for him to have a meltdown.
Once the Simpsons stopped being featured on the ads, his desire for butterfingers instantly evaporated. Not long after that, they became more widely available.

It was alright. It was adorable in a way proved to the ex and I our son has an amazing memory, and inspired some amazing drawings. One had Darth Vader terrifying some m&ms 😂
There's an Aussie show called Gruen which is all about advertising and how it works, and is hosted by an excellent Aussie comedian. When I home schooled my boy for a few years (14 - 17), watching Gruen was a weekly class. Advertising has less of a hold on him these days

Macaroni penguins are named for their striking, yellow head plumes, which reminded 18th-century British sailors of the flamboyant fashion of men known as "macaronis" at the time. These men were known for their elaborate clothing and hairstyles, including feathers in their hats, which the penguins' plumes resembled.

NOW that song makes sense!
"Yankee Doodle went to town, riding on a pony. Stuck a feather in his cap and called him macaroni."
