Speculations suggest it will cost approximately $800 million to disassemble and install the combat protocols of the current Air Force One plane. Not to mention the need to inspect all the built-in systems for bugs, etc. The security personnel under the felon are having fits over this.
Boeing is two years behind schedule and over budget on the replacement it is building for Air Force One. The time required to retrofit the 'gift' is approximately two years, according to aviation experts.
So, is it foolish to accept a free jet? One from a foreign country with ties to nations with which we are not amicable?

Sure. It was flying since 1971 until it was retired, like the Reagan administration. It also served six other presidents. Unlike the felon's gift, which he says will be retired upon his termination as president. So, an active plane that's about four years old at that point. Poor use of equipment.
More importantly, it appears and smells like a political favor being curried from another nation. Right?
