It was stuck in pre-production limbo for like a decade, and went through quite a few different scripts and directors. Nolan North, Nathan Drake’s voice actor, admitted he was too old for the physicality of the stunts, despite doing them in the green screen suits for the video games. Fans had long been clamoring for Nathan Fillion, who did a great short film with himself in the role and would have been fantastic if they didn’t drag their feet for sooooo many years. Before he blew up with The Avengers and before multiple “me too” moments involving Buffy/Angel star Charisma Carpenter and his wife (separately), I wanted Joss Whedon to direct, which would have all but guaranteed Fillion, whom he worked with in both Buffy and Firefly. The producers didn’t listen to my hiring advice though, for better or worse 😜 Sooo we got stuck with baby Spidey, Markey Mark, and the worst misuse of Antonio Banderas I’ve ever seen! The actress who played his henchwoman would make an excellent Catwoman though, in my non-professional casting opinion. The girl who played Chloe was okay, but Claudia Black is fucking amazing in that role in the games and I don’t know who else could have done it justice.

Also, don’t even let me get started on how they made it a prequel in a whole new story that cannibalized BIG moments from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th games, essentially fucking themselves on the possibility of sequels. It’s my favorite video game franchise and I have ✨OPINIONS✨ about the damn movie!
