It's just after midnight on National Nurses' Day! If you've ever had any healthcare at all, you can thank a nurse. We do more to care for patients than any other healthcare category. 🩷🩷

Have a good Tuesday, everyone! 💝✨💖

Thank you nurses for all you do! You are amazing angels! (And my wife when she dresses up in a nurses outfit!)

Top of the morning everyone! I missed yesterday and yesterday was a bust for me. I was supposed to get blood test and had to fast for 12 hrs. and no coffee! I had a 7am appointment. I get to Lab Corp to get my blood drawn and they did not have a scrpt from my Dr. So I fasted for 12 hrs and did not have coffee for naught. I had brewed coffee and it was in my travel mug in the truck. I have to do the whole thing over again.

I have a Samsung phone. In Gallery, to change the size of the photo, I click on the edit button on the bottom of the page. Then, in edit, there will be three vertical dots in the upper right corner. Click on them and the resize option will show.

IDK how to do this on an iPhone.
It USED to be as simple as that. With the new platform (going back a couple of years and updates) it’s many more steps…around 8 clicks to do what could be done in two or three. Have to save to files then the old way shows up? 🤬. Apple has regressed on that front…

Gotta get my bizzness ready to go back to work, heart doc appt, and get a hair cut. I look like a muppet. Where does my week off go? Happy Tuesday and have a coffee or tea on me!

OH! Happy Nurses Day!

Most actually do care. Practices have such thin margins; it's the reason you rarely find single practices anymore. My previous PCP told me she couldn't afford to keep her practice open. Insurance companies only pay for 15 minute office visits. They rarely are just 15 minutes. 😒
I go to a very small practice which DOES NOT participate with insurance. I pay a VERY small monthly premium, and have practically unlimited access to the Dr. The office is small, so overhead is practically zero. A phlebotomist visits once a week for draws. I like this much better than the hospitals who don't know or care who I am.

Morning all. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Forgot I have a doc’s appointment tomorrow and so decided to eCheck in. The intrusive questions! I wanted to tell them to F off, but I really need this heart doc…he’s also my mother’s doc so figured I’d keep it in the family. I get the health questions but the “do you have trouble paying bills” type questions? 🙄

Get you out of here w some Charleston MZ

Wow, out of curiosity, what if you do have trouble paying medical bills?
What are they going to do?
Hold off treatment? Or not treat you at all?

🤔

Morning all... quick catch up then back to work, work

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
You cook with it!
A world-famous chef once told me, on the subject of wine in cooking, "if you wouldn't drink it, don't cook with it"
The sources I've perused that address the issue call out Proper Storage.
Example: Tasting Table
"As VinePair points out, though, some wines simply cannot be saved, explaining that "If a wine contains a flaw like cork taint or volatile acidity, these characteristics are imparted to the dish." Thus, these old, spoiled wines must be discarded. For all other wines, store them properly, and keep on cooking. The bottle will almost surely be emptied long before its usefulness expires.

Cooking concentrates the flavors of wine while evaporating most of the alcohol. With older, properly preserved wines, the gradual diminishment of nuance in the bottle isn't an issue, since as Fine Cooking observes, the flavors that are important to wine-drinking "won't survive cooking." Rather, the issue becomes one of maximizing flavor by using the wine properly."

They hunt them? 🤯
They were bred for it...
Source: American Kennel Club: Dachshund
"And, as the breed name suggests, the Dachshund was developed to enthusiastically dig his way into a badger den and dispatch its occupant. The Dachshund's long, low body was custom-made for this dirty subterranean work."
Good morning picture-perfect pub people. Happy National Nurses Day!
Nobody told me today was Picture Day!!!

My sister's birthday was yesterday. I keep telling her she needs to go to every Cinco de Mayo celebration and tell them it's her birthday! 🍹🤣
Happy belated to your sister!! I know a CDM BDay-er and they love how easy it is to find a party... and someone willing to buy a stranger a drink on their special day. 🍸
Did they take most of the nice W out with your blood and leave irritable W??
Wait... that's an option?!?

It’s morning. I need to train this old dog to sleep through the night. I also need coffee:View attachment 2536273
🫂 Hopefully there's a way to at least help him sleep a bit longer so you can, too?
ProTip: Avoid asking youth to "tell me all the swear words you know" as a means to "get it out of their system".
Thank you to my auntie (RIP) who did this when a sibling was decades younger... and trapped us all at the Thanksgiving Dinner Table for an additional 45 minutes as he went on and on and on with every variation he could construe (i.e. fat ass, dumb ass, smart ass, etc. ad nauseum) 😣

I recently had the same thing happen - the reminder to schedule for a lab was surfaced to me, but the doctor had never written the order for it so the lab couldn't take the sample for testing.

I've reported this to Member Services for their technical department to review. IMO there should be a way to build this into the system.

Meantime, I now make an additional call (or 3) before scheduling for any labs to confirm the order has been submitted. Fool me once... (especially with fasting)
I dont feel good today....
Headache nausea and my freaking arms hurt
Hope you feel better soon! 🫂
Must be something with Spring? I've been having issues with last week's migraine w/ nausea wanting to make a return, too.
Wish I could go back to bed
I only feel this way on days that end in Y

Is this what they call Concierge Coverage?

🤔
Yes, hospitals and other healthcare providers (i.e. doctors, clinics, etc.) may decline to treat patients with unpaid bills for all except emergency medical care.

I'm not sure what she refers to it as. She's a full blown MD, with a NP working with her. Has access to all of the hospital labs, writes prescriptions, etc. She's not afraid to find a specialist or order labs when needed. I think she just got fed up with the medical system, and opened her own thing. I know insurance was too much overhead to deal with. So she just avoided it. 🤷‍♂️

The few practitioners I'm familiar with in my area who don't take insurance? Their visits end up costing several thousands of dollars. Yes, they treat the more complex cases that take more time and resources. But also - having complex or chronic illness is expensive and most people I know are unable to afford $2k - $5k for every doctor's visit (that's including at least some labs).
