Feedback on new policy announcement.

Is it the fact that a pic comes up automatically, like when I copy a photo from my laptop and paste it into the FORUM?
I don't understand why that is any different from posting a link to another site (which I think is much worse).
Today I am still seeing very pornographic sex acts being posted on Lit, whereas my rather tame non-nudes have been deleted in their entirety.
It hurts.

It has to be our own images but hosted on another site. So more trouble and less safety for us but that lady clicking random Lit links at grandma’s funeral can finally breathe easy. Unless someone objects to camgirls wearing buttfloss in the Lit banner ad cause that’s on by default over all the stories.

I have no objection to camgirls nor ads. It’s the double standard that’s upsetting. And the possible loss of pics. And loss of community if we can’t even do links to nudes which we still don’t know.

All my images are mine, it's a lot more dangerous to post links to other sites. You are right about the Lit banner of course, no restraints there! This site has just lost it's appeal to me. So very sad. And I don't have a clue on how to post links from other sites anyway, nor would I want to. Thanks for being supportive!!!

Ruby, I would be glad to show you how if we ever find out if links are still allowed. I don’t want people driven away. It is site users that make Lit a community. We don’t own the site legally but the content we create, the bonds we forge, that’s ours. I hope you will stay.

You can't even link to video clips anymore on the Story Ideas forum. I posted two story ideas based on video clips awhile ago and the mods removed them.

Was it links you have to click to view? Or did they auto display the videos?

Just trying to figure out what, if anything, will be left for us? Sure would be nice if those making policy could actually tell us what is and isn’t allowed anymore.

I don’t know anything about your images, specifically. I rarely spend time in AmPics and am not familiar with most of the regulars who post there, so I can’t speak to your images.

The folks who have reached out to me when their images all suddenly disappeared from the site along with the ability to upload images were all uploading images (“attaching” them). If the images are determined to be in violation of the rules, having them attached to the Lit server is a bigger concern to the site than having them linked (at least this is how it has been handled for a while now).

Like JaF0 said, it is not only the forum mods who handle reports or scan threads and remove content, but the site owners as well.

And with the new changes I guess that the last flickering hopes of a TPH AmPics thread are gone 😔

Thanks for responding. I see many pictures that were attached just like I did, explicit nudes as opposed to my tame lingerie shots, and they are still up. I am pretty sure I did nothing wrong, so it is a mystery to me. Thanks for trying to help. I am terribly sad about this development.

Ruby, it may have been the size of the image. If it's too big, I think it gets removed. I can't actually find *anything* about photo sizes in the image rules but I do try to keep my images under 1k pixels in each dimension. Photos are HUGE, much higher resolution that needed to just show in a forum.

I did have one image taken down about a week ago that was from my phone and I had forgotten to resize it before posting. Thus I suspect it was size. There were no genitals at all. It was in a thread for nude pictures (mom bods). Showed breasts but nothing else. At the time, breasts were allowed.

You can resize images online for free here but I just do it with image editors like Paint or GIMP (free).

Might be worth taking this to PM now as its a fairly specific issue....

Thanks Lotus, my images were smaller than most of the nudes I still see being posted. I resize any pics smaller before I post. I think something else is going on. Please keep in touch, I will let you know if I get any answers. Have a great evening, hugs!

Oh well.
Fun while it lasted.

I'll wait (a bit) and see how "the cookie crumbles", but it seems that pretty much all of my work will be excised.

I am one of those regulars in AmPics. Many of us in AmPics are middle age and moms or dads. We find tremendous comfort and affirmation in sharing photos with each other. Some of us have found it helps greatly with anxiety and many use it to heal body image issues. Almost everyone I've ever interacted with there has been kind and respectful. There is no other site I have ever seen where I was unafraid to post personal photos, let alone nude ones. I hadn't run into a single incel there! If you have any influence at all with Laurel or Manu, please ask them not to take that away from us.

Please leave us at least links. Offsite links are less safe and more of a bother but it's better than being driven from Lit because we can't share pics anymore.

Please ask them to at least say whether offsite links will still be permitted. The ones that don't display any image unless you click on them so all those "overwhelmingly positive" people somehow accidentally ending up in the clearly labeled AmPics forum at work or grandma's funeral can stop worrying what others will glimpse. I guess the Lit banner with nearly naked cam girls that appears by default over all Lit stories isn't an "over the shoulder" viewing concern for those folks nor the site owners.

That is why I cannot believe this is about over the shoulder viewing at all. I think it's far more likely the site owners don't want to face possible litigation from the current US administration. Even if they removed all pics, this is still a sex site. Maybe they're counting on Republicans only considering images to be porn. Do they plan to remove audios of real people really cumming next? I'm sure those pass the Project 2025 is it evil porn test. So would any text only forums about LGBTQ+ matters. So would any text forums about BDSM. If the right wants to come for Lit, they will. Nothing Lit removes or doesn't remove will stop them. Please look into hosting Lit in another nation if that would protect the owners from litigation.

This is the current policy. The brew one has not given details of whether it is just photos or not.

They have, however, not mentioned it being down to the law, but to avoiding embarrassment for users being caught looking at filth

I mean I belong to an adult rp forum and if there is a rule of no full nudity in the avatars and also if there is nudity in pictures displayed you have to put them in a spoiler (you can click on it and it will show the image and yes this is on both website and phone) and you need to tag that its NSFW which honestly I find nice. I am not overly fond of reading a thread and have to be wary of others walking up behind me and looking at my screen. And well considering I am one of the chat admins I would hardly call myself a prude. Or even if like on Discord you can choose to have images not show up and have to click on it to see the image.

I have a lot of chatters who either because its their I like to risk getting caught kink or because they are genuinely just exploring and want to keep it private...I have had people ask me how to block the pictures at the top of the chat and we don't allow people to post picture links in the chat (mostly because if we allowed it that's all some rooms would do) But yeah...while I am more of a reader of smut rather than a watcher...I have to say I agree with this. Not every one wants to open a page and see an erect penis or a gaping hole of some kind. Some just prefer to have it left to the imagination or have a choice in viewing things rather than have it pop up automatically.
So don’t go to those threads which are based on images of erections and holes. It’s pretty clear which those are. They don’t just show up out of nowhere in the middle of someone’s story. As for people seeing something like that while you’re out reading erotica in public, they could just as well see the clitoris or throbbing from a glance over your shoulder. How about saving your reading of unillustrated sex stories for places where you can be assured of privacy…such as your own home, after the kids have gone to bed?

That is not the latest, "greatest" proclamation. not having anything to do with "legality".

Proclamation is here> https://forum.literotica.com/thread...-publishing-queue-nudity-policy-more.1632509/

excerpt:

...

Speaking of new features: over the last few years, we've rolled out several new features on Literotica that include visual elements. Those features include the Series Cover Art and the Author Profile Header Images. Those features all had one thing in common: a content guideline of "no nudity in any images". This policy grew out of feedback from the Literotica community.

Many Literotica readers (and authors) shared with us that they visit the site on their phones and would prefer not to have NSFWs images on the screen while someone else is looking over their shoulder. Other members told us there are so many sites on the internet with photos and videos that they would prefer Literotica remain a haven for text - the original intent when the site was launched more than a quarter century ago.

Anyone who's been around a while knows that we've always supported the free speech rights of individuals and websites to publish adult videos, photographs, and artworks. Over time, we've also become more and more aware of Literotica's unique identity as a community dedicated to storytelling via fantasies shared through writing and reading.

A few years into our experiment with the "no nudity" image policy for new features - and with overwhelmingly positive feedback during the experiment - we're planning to expand the policy to more of Literotica's existing features with images over the coming months. The obvious place where it will make a difference is in User Avatars, though we plan to expand the policy to the Literotica Forums as well as to the Illustrated Stories and Artwork in the future. We understand that these changes may have an impact on some members' already-published avatar images, forum uploads, illustrated stories, and artworks - but the total number of images involved should be tiny compared to the total number of images, stories, and other works shared on Literotica.

If you're a forum poster or author who has shared images (photos or artwork) that include nudity, you can prepare for the changes by editing/replacing those images yourself proactively - or you can wait until we have time to review all of the visual works and request changes to those that need to be updated. Again - our research shows that the total number of items impacted by these changes will be very small (this only applies to images, not text), but we understand that each member's work is important to them. While the change might require a little extra effort in the short run, we're confident that it is the best move for the community in the long run. Please feel free to send us any feedback or questions you might have, as always.

What do they imagine will be left after they axe all the naughty bits and sex acts in the Lit visual art section?
How did they type tiny number with a straight face?

They have not said.

I would expect that they will axe that section, "in the future".

OR it will be "R" rated material.

Would the name of this site by some chance have anything to do with azure-colored celestial bodies?
Oh, are you referring to A Sky Colored Cock? That “Llehlla” is the WORST offender!
I was interested in the title of the thread because I thought it would be erotic poetry. I know it’s in the Visual Arts Corner, but still, that title just said “poetry” to this idiot. So I click on it and bam! There I am with my coworkers looking over my shoulder (that’s a company policy where I work…the company is called “Whisteblowers” so I guess it makes sense that everyone is policing everyone else’s screens.) and looking with the same horror as mine at a quite vaguely drawn ERECT penis squeezed between two cartoonish BREASTS! I could have died of embarrassment! I don’t know who these 75 k freaks are that get off on this perverted artist’s sometimes barely intelligible, sometimes very explicit images ( can she even draw?), but they sure aren’t doing LITerotica any favors by showing up in such numbers. Or maybe it’s just one person who has some sick compulsion to click on that thread.

I don’t know what causes some to be seen and action taken while others remain, and I am sorry that your experience has been frustrating. I know as a mod, when I remove an attached image because it’s too graphic, I include feedback to the poster that the image needs to be linked rather than attached. I don’t see all of the images, though, and moderator removed images would be done one or a few at a time rather than all in one fell swoop.

I do agree with you about AmPics. It’s a special place where people can share photos of themselves and get built up. There’s rarely a negative remark and it’s wonderful and freeing. The downside there is people posting images of others, but those get removed once discovered.

I do hope there is a plan that allows for AmPics to still exist and not be too affected.
Unless we hear otherwise, it seems to be rolling out now.
Do you think this is because people are having their photo posting privileges removed? That’s been going on for a long time. Or have you seen something else?
